Are there any tasks besides coinstar voucher and making change for a person that require the main terminal to be used and can't be done by the customer? I was training an employee today and couldn't think of all the applications, thank you!
Lazy bookkeepers don't like to refill the machines. Not even before game days or even major holidays, as it's impossible to know when they are in advance.
So, the machines run out of cash and aren't aggressive enough in letting customers know. And retards and old people love cash.
So you have to transfer and tender it at the podium. Maybe the order won't be lost this time.
I also think coupons can't be used at SCO. The machine decides that the customer needs assistance. Even if they do not. The SCO machine will alert an attendant to help the customer. I've seen customers say "I know how to use s coupon. I do not need help, thank you."
Well...that's not your decision...the machine decides that you need help.

Nope. Coin star vouches need to be franked like checks and they're only good the day you cash them out at the location you cash them out at. Just like coupons these need to be turned in so the till balances. They're literally the equivalent of a check. No you can not have them back after you cash them out.
Please for the love of god tell me you're not one of those customers that refuses to have their items touched by is a douche about it.

True. Coinstar vouchers will not and cannot be redeemed at the sco. We only redeem them at the checkstand. After they are redeemed we put a mark on them to prevent reuse.
You can redeem a coinstar voucher over and over again on the same day. We fired one girl who redeemed the same one multiple times that day. She kept doing it with various coinstar vouchers she obtained until caught. Nobody snitched her out, she was discovered via checkstands she used as your number is tied to whatever machine you are using.
Paying with a check requires you to transfer the transaction to the podium.
Also, if I were training someone, I would also mention that complicated or several price changes/voids are better done at the podium because it's easier than scanning your barcode a million times.

I guess maybe too many people were scanning coupons and just keeping them to use again instead of putting them in the drawer. I hate when it says, "Help is on the way" and I haven't even done anything yet. I like to go to the lanes that have an extra shelf above the bagging area so I can just throw stuff up there and bag it later when I'm done. If you bag something and then try to move it to a different bag, you get the dreaded, "Help is on the way" when you get ready to pay.
