Management feel entitled to tell ppl to clock back in. Can I contact union about this?

Management tried telling me to work over my shift and do 2 more pallets

Edit: Ive been giving a warning. For not clock back in and  not finishing the 2 pallets and leaving. An empty cart in an aisle.

Where can I find my union contract? Delta division

I recall seeing this thread on reddit too.

No management can't ask you to clock in once you are finished with scheduled shift. Please contact the union and file a grievance.

This is why we have a union and our ancestors have fought working rights for us so we don't have to endure the same bull sh--it our ancestors went through. File a union grievance asap. I'm beginning to feel after family research they moved away from london because in the 1800's it wasn't like the best place to live.

Any requests for you to work over have to be done while you are on the clock within a reasonable time of your shift ending. Most people say it's two hours, but I can't find any evidence in the handbook to support that claim. It does say that if you call in sick, it has to be at least one hour before you're scheduled to come in. So I would surmise that they can ask you to stay over as long as it's at least one hour before the end of your shift. The point is if you're not on the clock, you are not working. You're just a regular person who happens to be in a grocery store. Anything work related, including being fired, has to be done while you're on the clock. If you punch out and they try to tell you to punch back in, you don't have to and there's not a thing they can do about it. If they try to retaliate, contact the union.

They can ASK all they want. They can't TELL you.

If they want me to work over i give them 2 hours time limit to ask before i clock out.Maybe an hour tops. Anything less gets a "I made plans" spiel and they're on their own.

Hopefully, you refused to sign any write up. Once your shift is done, you go home or do what you need to do. Contact your u ion asap.

Is this a form of retaliation? Since the manager wrote OP up for this and he/she/they demanded them to clock back in and finish? Does that led to suspension/ termination on the manager?

Manager will get a LIGHT slap on the wrist and a 5 minute time out...maybe.

Op will probably get the write-up tossed out but will have to worry about retaliation.

Possibly retaliation done within the boundaries of the contract. Example: if op is guaranteed 24 hours bare minimum, then management may constantly schedule op 24 hours constantly and say "business is slowing down"

 Op here:

First I am Part time and in college. They know that. Secondly, they never ask me 2 hours before my shift ended to ask me. They demanded me to clock back in and finish that pallet and to move the cart. Third of all, They knows Im on my own in grocery on two days well three if the other person works 4 hours. Theyve been harassing me of my name (incorrectly ) and bullying me since they got here.

Then my advice is to NOT clock back in. Especially if they demand it. College comes first over some stupid pallet and a cart.

Second warn them to cut the bullying. If they don't, you WILL call HR and the union. Be firm, if you have to, have a small hidden recorder on your person to record the harassment and use it as evidence if they deny any wrong doing if need be.

Third, you will need to find another job more than likely because they will want to be rid of you.

Good luck qnd hope things turn out ok.

Exactly. Same thing happened to me a couple years back. My best friend wanted to take me out for my birthday so I left early. (As I was scheduled), boss threw a fit and tried to have me written up, I demanded my union rep and he refused until I pulled out my phone to call myself. He discarded all 3 copies of the write up and let it go but he was pissed.

For that reason I always keep a Pic of the schedule on my phone each week incase this bullsh*t happens again.

Honestly, some managers just hungry to bully employees then get confused and shocked when they no workers in their dept.
