Could I pick-list my own order
Permalink

I work picklist at my store and lately we have been slammed. Lines are insane, so what want to know is, could I pick-list my own order and have it ready ahead of time to avoid waiting in long lines? By picking it, I mean do my own shopping. Or will they "freak-out"?

And if so, why freak out if I use picklist to shop?

No you can not. Another  employee will have to do it. Its against the policy. They can actually suspend/ fire you for that. Its like you shopping on the clock for your own items.

Also, you cannot shop your own order. You must be rung up by another employee. This is because you could easily sub your items and charge yourself the cheaper price, get a larger container of a product and charge yourself the cheaper price for the smaller one of the same item.

You can use the picklist but you cannot shop your own order. And if you value your job do not shop on the clock.

OP here. Because I don't feel like standing in a long line? Why do that when I can use picklist, then grab my items bypassing the line all together.

No we are not giving misinformation. Its definitely in the handbook and union ( if youre union) wont be able to save you if you lose your job for shopping on the clock.

It would fall in the same category as cashiering your own order which can get you fired.

We had an employee keep ringing up gift cards for him self at click list and he eventually got fired for it. Wasn't as cam but not allowed.

Do not dare ring up your own orders if you value your job.

Does your store have the program scan bag go? This would allow you to pass the lines.

My store discontinued this because of all the theft it caused. Company gives customers waaaayyy toooo muuccchhh trust in a program like this to not steal. It makes it a hell of a lot easier to steal for them.

I called this 3 years ago. They expected us to watch and alert to make sure they paid, like we had time for that. Our store still had it when I quit but didnt really advertise for that reason.

Well, isn't going through u-scan the same thing as ringing up your own order?  I don't see what the problem would be in picking your own order if you're picking other orders along with it.
