First off, I don't know if a zone manager and a district manager are two different positions. But the few co-workers I talked to referred our district manager as a zone manager as well.
So, whatever the high-and-mighty position this one holds, they also hold the position of corporate boot-licking shill.
Case in point. I'm sure that a lot of you on this board has heard of the stupid rules that have been added to the front end. For those of you who don't, the cashier has to give a spiel about thanking the customer for coming in and announcing who the courtesy clerk is. The courtesy clerk then has to say the usual thanks yadda-yadda. Does Wal-Mart do this? Probably not.
Anyway, the shill started an incident one evening some time after my shift was done. I work opening shifts, by the way. The shill decided to pull a "secret shopper" stunt. They went through both a checklane and SCO and no one did their little spiels. So those on the front end that evening had to sign a write up.
Here's a couple of kickers. The "secret shop" was done when the 5:00, everyone else is getting off work and out of school rush was happening. Nothing, not even the stupid rules, are thought about. It's just getting through the rush. And when the write up was given, there wasn't a union steward or union rep involved. Does that not indicate a blatant disregard of certain rules?
