Lately our delivery drivers have been incredibly mad and irritable to deal with lately. The last week I've seen our closer chewed out verbally multiple times because they're incredibly mad about some reason or another. Good lord if you get to this point people just change employment. Maybe this is why my store goes through closers like crazy because the delivery drivers from the ware house are nasty sh--it heads.
Truckers are generally paid by the mile, not the hour. But by law, they can only "drive" for so many hours.
Every minute sitting in the cab is a minute not driving.
Closers get near-minimum-wage part-time-only, sure, but that shift and a completely random schedule means they can't see their family nor friends nor work a second job nor plan anything unless it's half a month out.
And probably not even then.
But only if they live with their parents. Because that kind of paycheck won't pay rent.
Oh well. It's better for the shareholders that way.
