Lead that trashed our department we kept afloat for 2 yrs with out a manager finally got fired.

I don't normally gloat but a few months ago I put a post stating that the old lead quit and department ran without a manager/lead for 2 yrs. The two most long term staff kept it afloat and actually made sales go up 30%. Then management opened manager slot in that department to hiring and she ghosted everyone in the department that applied for it. Four perfectly good candidates that could of had a career boost. We were all pretty much doing the manager duties but didn't have the job title.

Well, after 6 mo of a new hire of <2 yrs kissing aff to the manger; the manager chose this b*. Why did she chose her? Probably because she was a yes answering slave and a kiss aff. No people skills, no managerial skills, didn't understand one ounce of the department duties, cut corners, was a messy worker and refused to do duties below her.... She scheduled her self and barely showed up to more than half the shifts.

Well upon the first month of running the department the department I had been some what proud of working in for the past 4 yrs was totally trashed and went from successful to failing in <6 months. Boy we were pissed. 3 of us transferred and requested a roll change. I watched the department crash and burn. Sales dropped 50% from where we brought it up to and no one gave a f* abt it.

After 3 mo in the new position she made a 360 degree attitude change. It showed. She no longer cared about the work but abt her self. Failed to show up to work trashed out the department and some how applied to a higher grossing store and won the position. Well not even 2 months and they fired her. Dear you can't get away with sloppiness at the higher grossing stores. They notice sh--it like that. At higher grossing stores they actually take the job seriously. I don't think you realized how good you had it. You saddly needed a smaller grossing store to slip through the cracks. Slowly forgetting what it's like to survive in the real world. You can under perform at smaller grossing stores but not larger ones. They notice.

I've worked both real world jobs and union jobs and frankly will stick to union jobs.

I'd like to add on:

This is another scenario of kroger rewarding bad, lazy workers and punishing hard workers that want to try, show up to work or even do a satisfactory job. This s**hit is why I continue to do peon level work as this is not my first retail job and did lead work successfully for 4 yrs before I decided to step down because the old employer started micromanaging too much. They basically destroyed the fun in the job.

The moral of this story is sadly well taken. And yes union is better. Kroger union maybe less so. Sorry UFCW.
