If union, the contract usually states that you need to reside at the address for a year to expedite an "energy clause" to transfer. Also, depends on if the store has an opening for your current position.
Ask shop steward for details.

In my area my union rep told me the union doesn't get involved transfers and won't help, that transfers are entirely up to store management.
