I'm fed up with kroger 18 years here is too long. But eventually you get to that point in life where you just need to buckle down and hold a job to make ends meet. (i.e kroger). I've been with them 18 years and have been repeatedly denied role changes, career advancement, and even could of been lead positions. Look kroger if an employee is holding a department together with no manager/lead for 2 years and you throw them under the bus with a minimum wage new hire that just crashes and burns the department in 3 months... Something is severely wrong with you as a company.

This company repeatedly extinguishes any ray of hope I have for a lead position or any advancement. I repeatedly have to fight for my union rights. There is never any positive talk. Only negative this negative that. How many things did you do wrong talk. Never any positive talk.

I'm sorry kroger but I'm done. I enacted my back up plan and am leaving in a couple years. I see no future with this company.

You promote lazy affes and kiss their affes. While hard working people get the short end of the stick and you throw us under the bus every moment you can get. Sorry kroger but this door for me has officially started to close and I'm moving on soon. We're just disposable numbers to you not human beings being the back bone of your corporation. I've repeatedly had "we do not care about you" examples thrown in my face repeatedly over the past 15 months and I'm just done. And I was willing to stay until retirement kroger. No, you burned that bridge this year and I'm done!

I understand your concerns and seeing it as a paycheck to paycheck job.  But i also started in store, begging for hours.. working not enough hours to pay rent comfortably, but just enough hours to want off early when they were sending people home. But the job is what you make of it. I had some truly awful goober "customers" wooo.. that if I let them, would give me a bad day - but honestly I just started teasing them.    "Oh and I WAS having a good day.. now you're here." lol and soon they were my smelly but nicer customers. (eww).  Store work is hard, there are a lot of bad management teams, and having bad leadership - makes the job 10X harder.  But if you can find the good management team - wow it makes such a difference. and if the entire store is a good manager team.. woo, its a whole new company.

There are opportunities everywhere, stay positive - apply for district jobs, division jobs, fulfillment centers, warehouse jobs, office jobs etc.  Even if you are not qualified. Honestly.. tell them youre a quick learner.. you'd be surprised how much a positive YES - I CAN DO THAT attitude in the interview will get you the position over someone qualified, esp the nah- i only wanna work on this specifically.. mindset.  My entire family has worked for Kroger at one point in time. I mean they all mostly quit at some point. LOL. But it was a place to go when they needed a job. My dad retired.. from a store, my mom well she got in a car accident and was on disability after that. My sister started her first job here.. but then moved to one of our pharmacy facilities.   I started at store, jumped to another store.. and had to volunteer for everything - no one ever offered me a break.. applied for a job at the division office - didnt feel qualified but got it.. transferrred around in the div office.. and now working much higher up. I've got a career... most people would say successful.  My advice look up technology jobs.. or asset protection jobs.. or warehouse jobs.. each of these teams NEEDS STORE EXPERIENCE associates.  Just dont give up.

The trick to being happy with your job: maximize what you enjoy doing/are good at, minimize what you dont/arent good at, and try to find that ONE customer whom you actually enjoy talking with. Even if its playful banter.

The trick to be happy with your job:

Don't have 46 chromosomes.

Rent is $1400.  First of the month.
