Sorry kroger but I am not missing a paid event I bought a ticket for 4 months ago. I'm calling out on this day. You've screwed me over on a few days this year already and it is clear that Kroger does not care about you.
Yes, MyTime has poorly written code. We have people asking for Time off but none of the schedule writers see it and it never gets approved or denied. There are two ways to make a request. One is seen when the schedule writer looks at the schedule. The other is a ghost entry. You see it as requested but no one else does. I have one person that neither way works. A schedule writer has to enter their requests.

My manager sees all the requests. My day was denied, too. I called out that day anyways.

Needs of the business come first. Your life is secondary, on the back burner, the back of the bus. You should be reprimanded for abusing the call in but whatever. Dont bitch and moan like a sore cu-nt when they cut your hours.
You also have to take into consideration a few facts:
When that day comes up, it got denied: Do I call out? Yes, you can but you have to keep in mind if they audit your schedule and have a habit of this they can enact attendance protocols.
Your other best option: Is if you have this issue: If your attendance is good, do not request the day off and instead call out. Kroger's attendance policy is you can have 3 days of calling out without question. They are to not request a dr note until day 3. I've done this a few times because I knew they would not honor it and instead would be better to call out. Do keep in mind if you have a routine habit of abusing the attendance policy they can enact it and act accordingly.
When you weigh your decisions you have to decide what is best.
Now if you have an issue of your employer scheduling you outside your availablity requests, you need to talk to them and straighten it out. My store last year fired to staff who called out each time they schedule. Kroger is not the best company to work for if you expect 40 hrs a week with set strict restrictions. This is not the job for that. Weekends off, holidays off... yea not happening.
