Hello, I started working at Kroger in 2023 and moved to a different department upon turning a certain age. I am a part time student who also very much so could be considered independent so I need at least a minimum of 10-15 hours of work to pay my weekly/monthly expenses. During a time frame the assistant manager left to go handle something for 3 weeks, during that they hired someone to take his place it seemed. Once he returned they CUT my hours. I go from 15 hours to 4 the following week they scheduled me no hours at all. My availability clearly states that I can work 4 days out of the week. I would understand them not giving me and the new person hours but the new person has more hours than me. As someone who is a union member I have higher seniority over her. What do I do?

The reason for that is simple. They have deemed you as another lazy associate who just stays on their phone and probably jerks off in the restroom. Why would they give you more hours to do that? smh.

Tell the person who makes out your schedule that you have seniority over the new person. If that doesn't work, find your store's union steward and file a grievance. You don't mention what department you work in or if you limit what hours you can work on the days you're available. Both can have an impact on your schedule. Just remember the standard reason for Kroger screwing you over: Needs of the business.
