Is it true that you have to maintain 38 hours a week on second tier contract to keep your full time?

It depends on your contract. Most people full time is 32-37 hours (in my area). If you satisfy that weekly you are "full time" in the system. There is no such thing as a full 40 hrs a week.  If you want a full 40 hrs a week kiss good bye to your social time and time off and just let them schedule you when ever. Remove all restrictions and just say work me full time. When I first started I didn't mind doing this but now that I'm older I do mind. There is more to life than working and paying the bills. This is the crabbiest job to have if you want set days off through the week with a consistent schedule and still get maximum hours you desire. This is not that job.

Its not worth it. the job is just trash. Use your time here to just do bull**** low quality and effort work. At the same time look else where for better employment.  Kroger is trash

It varies contract to  contract. Mine is 32-37 hours. The only true full time positions are say leads and special positions that require full time.

Then there are other positions like starbucks, deli and ecomerce where you're lucky to get more than 20 hours a week if even that. Main reason I won't work those positions. Coupled with the fact I  can not wake up at 4 am for a 5 am start. I made that clear with my store. 7/8 am is the earliest I'll start.
