Told a lady to go hang around the rear of the store and wait for a store manager.
(Preview)
It's 8pm, and they wanted to know if we had more of X in the back. She was adamant she wanted to know. So I told her the truth, they're not in stock. She didn't believe me. I told her more of the truth, that the managers are busy in the back or somewhere off the floor and that paging them won't get them to come and...

Hiring Process/Training at your store
(Preview)
What is the average length of hiring process/training at your store? When I was hired a little over a year ago, I had to wait 3 days for a drug/background check to come back 1 1/2 days of computer lessons and work with one of the others for a couple days. Now they say it is 2 weeks for new hires.

Scheduling and screw ups
(Preview)
I'm three weeks new and realized a couple days in that my store is a cluster. I've asked four different people who might be writing my schedule and I've gotten four different answers - none of which is correct. I need specific days off in the future and, since I'm new, I can't put them into e-schedule. A...

Man, that In Store Audio Network is driving me nuts. This morning, they played "Fly Robin Fly" at about 5:00 AM Eastern time, and then again around 8:15 AM (yeah, I looked at the clock). Twice within Three hours and 15 minutes?? Ya got to be kidding. That song is 43 years old, and their playlist is s...

Time for Promotion - Courtesy Clerk
(Preview)
I was hired as a Courtesy Clerk a couple months ago. I really enjoy the job, and don't have any major complaints (other than the horrible pay). I just think I'd like being a Cashier more. How long does it typically take for a CC to become a Cashier or otherwise get promoted?

We have a stocker in our store who sticks items in wrong place, stocks incorrectly, leaves cases in floor when he can't find something and just loves to start drama and refuses to work overtime. What else does it take to convince management the guy needs moved?

Managers whining about lost sales from remodel.
(Preview)
Ever since the store started remodeling, every week we have to hear the managers complain that the amount of money the store is making is going down. They vaguely sound like they're blaming us while they announce it, and tell us to be sure to push sales harder. It's not our fault the store is being remode...
