First of all In the union contract it says you get an extra 55 cents a year, manadatory. Well they raise the union dues every year 25 cents so your only makeing 30 cents extra a year. Kroger managment wont give you a raise because "you get one in the union". well I am wondering if your not in the union will the raises be better? And how do you go about geting raises, ask for them? I am in the union and my managers really like me one of them said and I quote. Thats why mr so and so wants to train you to do everything around here. Would it be better for me to not be in the union? Would I be treated better or get better raises?
This has to do with a contract issue, If you are at top pay, you would not receive this "promise" It is only for those who are not at top pay and depends on what contract you are working under also. Would you be making more if you where not under the contract? That depends on your position. Just about any department head or back up, can or does make more then a co manager on the year. If you feel that you can do better outside of the union contract and your manager feels that you are material for management, by all means go for it. But if you don't like being moved around from store to store, as you know co managers are moved around so much. Mainly because the manager doesn't like them or feel that for some reason there is something that they can not work with them, they are moved about from zone to zone. In closing where you are at now management likes you, after going through management classes and making it into management and being placed at a store just keep in the other manager may or may not like you, and will have you shipped off. So if you like the idea of working someplace for a few months and find out that at the end of the day that you are being moved to some store clear across the other of town. By all means go for it.
