They told me I would make a base salary plus yearly bonuses. How much are the bonuses usually? Also, what kind of benefits do they offer, the person who I interviewed with did not provide me any details about medical, dental, 401K, etc.
Hate to say it, But you should have asked. Hourly rate and benefits is top priority when looking at a job. So apparently you didn't think it through, so you'll be "perfect" for a management job at Kroger since most of the time the a-holes don't think it all the way through when they come up with a brainstorm idea to push on the laborers.
So Congratulations----Your Kroger Life'r Material, you'll go far in management being under worked, over paid, over rated, and a legend in your own mind. Just be sure you can push down a crippled child or take advantage of a handicapped worker without any remorse, your training will be complete. You'll be a true evil Jedi Sith.hahahaha
I asked but they gave me general answers, I was wondering if anyone had what they actually made. They try and sell you on the high end but I want the average yearly bonus. They also said they have great benefits, but great benefits at my last job meant it still cost me $5000 to have a baby. I currently make around 60000/year and dont' want to take this job unless I can make more. I know you guys are mostly disgruntled but if someone could answer seriously I would appreciate it.
IS this a store manager position or a co manager position? Here in central Ohio entry level co managers start around 30-35k. I should say i have never heard of Kroger hiring a store manager off the street. Store managers make quite a bit more. I believe store manager pay is based on store volume among other things Health benefits for management aren't up to par with the union folks as far as i know. I believe they have larger co pays. Its hard to get a straight answer about bonus pay for us non management peeps. Bonus being based on sales, wages, operating expenses and many other things im sure. Ive had store managers tell me they liked the store they came from because they maxed out on bonus there. For some reason the bonus money wasn't as good at my store. Not a lot of detail but i hope this helps ya.
Heres the deal...starting, you can expect 27-35, weather your an internal candidate or not. YOU will pay for healthcare, dental, etc.etc. 10 fold of what you would pay if you were a clerk. "Diversity" plays a huge issue on your earning potential now and in the future (hey-if you feel uncomfortable talking about it than you shouldn't consider a career with Kroger) White male you can expect a 1 - 1.5 % increase per year; supporting the "diversity" initaitives you can expect 4-5% a year in raises. That's the way it is. If you feel uncomfortable working 5 years as a Co and with our diversity initiatives then work for a person with less than 6 months of Kroger time and is now your Boss - then don't consider Kroger. You are working for NO RETIREMENT benefits, you know ! That's right...you will get no pension other than 401k and COBRA insurance. Don't matter how great your evaluations are year in and year out - diversity wins! Bonus...your not going to make what everyone thinks they make. Long term, Kroger is weening the bonus program out and the most you will make as an Associate or Co is $3,000 POTENTIAL. It is designed that you won't make the full amount . They call it " enablers" and the great thing about this is Store Management has no control. Mystery Shops play a part ( Queing on the Mystery Shop= ELMS and we all know we are understaffed and overworked). If your white male - stay where you are ! Minority or woman - Go for it ! That will be the best move you ever made and opportunities are bountiful along with pay! Doubt what I write? Ask the Management Recruiter what the hiring goals are and then inquire about the "5 year plan". After they stutter and break into a sweat, the makeup is 70 minority-20 woman-10, with the last 10% he is hiring they know will work and he feels good about. The rest is just numbers in the door. $60,000 right now ? DON'T MOVE ! Stay where you are ! Your baby would cost you over 8 with Kroger benefits.
they just can't offer you a job in management, you have to go to school for that, to be able to recieve yearly bonuses and a salary. but then again you should have asked. why don't you e-mail your zone manager and ask them and see what they tell you.
This will quite possibly be the worst decision of your life. Kroger has gone completely downhill in last ten years. The pay is nowhere near what you make now. The benefits are just avg at best. Dont listen to the bs that you could move right up and be a store mgr in 2-3 years. You will be working nights, all weekends, holidays- long hours on the salaried mgmt scam. Retail sucks, massive turnover from clerk to mgmt. most stay less than 2 years. Whatever job you gave at $60 k is hundred times better!
