Why the HELL is my store, without any notice, switching me from dairy to produce. One day the store manager walks up to me, smelling like sweet coffee and pure deceit. He says, "produce needs help. Find some damn time in your schedule outside of work to help them out..."-pretty much like that. So, okay...I go and help them for two days. Then I recieve next weeks schedule..and damn it, I'm working there...all week, as well as the next and next. Without notice of being fully switched. It pisses me off so bad. Produce sucks.
Actually Produce as mentioned is a gravy job.I did it when I was 15 yo,that how easy it is.Normally you'll see old guys doing it.Kroger has gotten into that kick of NOT hiring replacememnts anymore, they like to shuffle around employees without hiring anymore, they spread the load around the remaining few. They think they're getting one over on the so called idiot drones.
Although Produce is NOT classified as a grocery dept job like dairy, frozen food. I don't think they can just transfer you over without asking. Its like these Old Lifers are always saying "its not in my contract". Try to get a floor man hired before 1994 to help throw stock. Produce & Grocery or Front End is 3 different depts. Each having its own hours to work with and scheduling. Its like hiring a bagger to go cut meat.
You can always get even by throwing their stock into the grinder or dumpster or rob their ass's blind every chance. We have an old saying " never screw over the people that handles your merchandise". Payback is a bitch. When that inventory comes up short, they go for the head of the snake.hahaha, just don't get caught....
I hate to tell you, but Kroger can put you anywhere that they please, wherever that they need the help they can put you. believe me I'm speaking from experience. Just thank your lucky stars that you are not in the deli, because that is THE wosrt department that you can work in. my store put me in produce back around Christmas time because someone was on vacation and they needed someone to make 150 fruit baskets for this church. So i was elected. produce really isn't that bad, it beats working on the front end and having to run a register and dealing with the hateful public. some are nice but most are hateful. maybe they got you back in produce because they are taking turns about going on vacation before the holidays get here or maybe someone is getting ready to retire or something. why don't you go and talk to your manager and ask them why they put you in produce ands then maybe they can answer your question. i work on the front end, and i was in produce and they took me out for no reason whatsoever, and let me tell you i was peed off too.
while working in these different departments anywhere where there is knives, like produce, meat shop, or deli, YOU HAVE TO BE 18 YEARS OLD before you can work in those departments. if you worked in produce when you were 15 then kroger was breaking all kinds of rules, and they better have been glad that their zone manger didn't walk in while you were there working around kinves. even if you didn't use those kinves you were still around them and kroger knows better and shouldn't have had you back there. you could have called the union on them and told them what kroger was doing to you.

Deli is s b*tch to work. When I was transferred to GMC I was originally supposed to fo pick up, and stock shelves in the am. Well, deli manager asked if I had working deli that day and I replied with "they scheduled me for pick-list and GMC because we are waaaaay behind." She understood and not 10 min management comes up to me and says "they need you in deli for about 4 hours." F*CKBALLS! I try to avoid deli and hope management forgets but they announce a 'reminder' over the voycall. "Mega, we need you on deli.." well, away to deli I went but only for 4 hours." But I think I did ok with bare minimal training.
