How many receivers also have to do bread?

I'm a "new" receiver at one of the new large 86,000 sq. foot stores. Part of my job is also doing bread. I'm told I do bread because receivers have traditionally done bread.  I don't think I should have to do bread. There is another Kroger about 5 miles down the road...it is less than half the size of this store. They have about 1/5th the bread I have and less than half the stock I have to receive. The receiver there does bread, big deal...he doesn't have half of what I have to do. I get NO HELP doing bread and a couple of deadbeats do bread on my days off. They are allowed 4 hours to do all there is to do and I'm lucky to get about 90 minutes to do the same thing. That includes, rotating, marking down, and scanning out any out of date bread. I have an 85% markdown rate but its very hard to maintain. The last receiver barely had a 60%  markdown rate and he had 17 years experience. He basically just let bread expire and threw it away. I've been at this for about 8 months and to be honest I'm about to quit.

Any suggestions???????????????????????????

Yeah - Quit! My receiver is at a 110,000 square foot store and has 93%+ markdown effectiveness and he does the bread, cookie/cracker, scans damage/markdowns and does receiving - hurry up or shut up....Oh, and our store sales are 1 mil$+ EVERY WEEk w/o fuel....

Don't let this "kroger fan boy" bitch get to you.  If your having a hard time getting it done talk to management and explain to them exactly what you said.  Also it wouldn't hurt to start going slower beforehand.  because if your doing the work now and being able to keep it up, then you have no ground

Kroger is horrible and could care less about it's employees.. so screw em..

i work at a store that averages $800,000+ ever week and i do not do the bread. i used to, but it got to be too stressful. then they cut all overtime so i threw the order guide on the co managers desk one afternoon and said "find someone else to write the bread order, i don't have time" and left. you have to remember that we get paid by the hour. not by how fast we work. they will only push you as far as you let them
