raises are non existent as far as I know. The union sent some stuff out that let you select the option of adding raises to the contract or something, but don't count on ever seeing one.

Floral Department is the busiest on Valentines Day and Mother's Day (which is coming up). Mostly floral employees just trim the flowers and place them in clean water. They sanitize the buckets at least weekly, that includes dumping out the old water and adding fresh water. Trim the flowers as they put them in new water.

Associates have to process flowers that come in at least every other day. They move a ton of displays. Blow up a ton of balloons, and deflate them a weeks later. They also wrap flowers for customers, take phone orders and offer suggestions.

Customers will ask what kind of sun, how much water, will it come back to life next year and can it grow inside. Read the information sticks that come with plants when those questions come up.

Floral does markdowns, on dead looking plants, the old ladies scoop them up, and flowers that expire or are about to expire. They all have dates on the upc tag. They walk around and water the living plants. This is tricky, too much and they die too little and they die. Orchids need like no water, hydrangeas need water everyday. Ask before you water.

Inventory is also done monthly in floral, but that's usually the Floral Lead who does it.

Part-time employees do get raises and qualify for benefits unless you are a bagger or maybe a fuel clerk. Your raises will be less and you won't qualify for bennies until 3 years or so but such is life with Kroger. The raises have been affected by the increase in minimum wage but are there after time.

Don't stop looking for a "respectable job". Keep filling out applications.

When the EBT crowd and WICK folks and crackheads start looking down at you, you'll realize how much working in a grocery store sucks. And to pour salt in the wound, you have to work with those who think Kroger is greatest.

lol Those *******s that think krogers is the greatest just piss me off. I'd like to take telzon to the side of their head. As for the crackheads and wick loosers haaa. Most of them are just idiots, and cant handle large words or anything that requires intelligence . I know some of those people do work hard, but just dont make enough and need the extra help. Most of them tho are just fat slobs with fat kids... And if they try to talk down on me then I'm pretty good at just throwing some "intelligence" their way, and make them feel like complete morons. Lol I actually got some lady that asked me why we put asparagus in ice... So I told here its grown in Alaska in feilds of ice

Do not even worry about it until you get thru your probation period. You have no rights or union protection until that happend. 45 days in local 540 in Dallas
