Cincinnati. They are currently building mega stores in upscale neighborhoods and closing the smaller,older stores that are lifelines in older, depressed urban areas. While I understand about a black bottom line, I believe Kroger's is misrepresenting their loss figures in these locations to justify closing these headache stores. Kroger's solution for the elderly and locals with limited transportation-give them bus tokens. Krogers has a history of creative accounting. During our previous contract negotiations they were bleeding money and demanded and got concessions from the union. Then they turned around and awarded managememt the largest bonuses ever. I recommend we demand a harder line approach from our union representatives, more media attention to the discrepancies between management perks and employee concessions might make a difference.
