Does anyone know what the Kroger policy is on employees carrying concealed firearms? I have my CCL, so everything is legal. I just want to make sure I won't get fired for carrying at work.
If someone has a copy of the employee handbook, it's probably in there. I don't want to ask management because I don't want them knowing that I might carry if it's not against policy.
However in Ohio we have the same law , however you CAN carry it but you must leave it in your car there is nothing they can do about that! Your car is privite property and no one can force you to let them in to it. Thats like letting them go through your walet or purse. Get the picture. Im a big guy ive carried my 44-40 (were talking a big pistol here) in the store before and no one knew (off the clock of course). Oh about guns I dont believe in shooting holes in people I believe if you have to shoot someone I believe in blowing body parts off.

No, you can't. It's pretty much universal across the enterprise. And no, it's not silly. Kroger has little to no liability from simply letting customers use their constitutional right to carry, even if something goes wrong. However, by letting an employee carry, the company assumes most to all of the liability.
Yep, enterprise wide, you have to keep it in your car. Didn't Kroger fire a manager or pharmacist in the last few years over this, because they stopped a robbery?

Actually, I think someone posted here that they were fired for having a handgun in their car on store property. The person mentioned it to a coworker. The coworker told the manager. The employee was dismissed.

One night, around 10:45 p.m, when I was unlucky enough to be assigned 'lot clearing duty, I had a woman ask me "Do you have an open policy because I just saw a guy with a gun." I told her "I honestly do not know, you can go ask customer service."
Without much of a huff, but with the feel of it, she responded "I'll go ask someone else then." mind you, all this time she was in her car.
It was nearly 11 p.m. and I had worked six hours and was trying to clear our goddamn parking lot so I could go home and honestly didn't even know the answer to her question. That, and if someone had gone in and shot up our store, I knew that I would get at least one day off of work.

You'd be hard pressed to find any company in any region of the US that would allow an employee to bring firearms directly onto the premises.
I think Tennessee just passed legislation that allows keeping firearms in the trunk of the car at a place of employment, but I'm not sure if it's in effect yet.
Can you have a stun gun on your side if you are not working and you are on your day off and you go in to shop can you get fired over that your not on the clock
I never bring mine to work. Even though I have the right to carry. I'll bring mace/bear spray because while it does hurt if sprayed it doesnt really do major damage, allowing the person to escape while the attacker is temporarily blinded. I've seen customers open carry on their person, but Kroger won't say anything for fear of loosong that customer or if said customer is coo-coo for coco-puffs, that just may be the one thing that sets them off. But all the open carry ones I've encountered were pretty cool and mellow.
No weapons allowed. You'll get terminated or written up if they find out. Approved company box cutters are the closest we get.
I did work at a couple sketchy locations. They did allow us to have pepper spray but we had to keep it in our lockers when on the clock. The last individual I know to have used pepper spray on a customer got terminated for it. And yes they were also being attacked by the customer. Yes they sued and got some compensation for it but never do this. Your job is more important. Only do this with manager permission. They allowed it after on incident where a crazy guy screamed and yelled at an older women employee in the parking lot.
Bring attacked by the customer and they STILL got fired? Glad they hot compensation for loss of their job. I STILL carry mace/bearspray on me. My safety is MORE IMPORTANT than store policy. The spray is hidden in my pocket. If they say anything I'll just say, wouldnyou rather me hospitalize the customer then? I e only had to use besrspray once. A dog was charging towards me, and he got a good dose of spray to the face.
last thing Kroger dErPS need is a gun let alone to carry it on them at Kroger. Weapons are not allowed on Kroger work site period! We dont need people like i386 shooting himself in the foot while getting carts.
