Things you imagine your store manager does when he gets home.

Lets make some fun and imagine what store management does when they get home.

1. I can imagine my store manager coming home and saying to the wife that the house cleaning is not up to Key Retailing Standards.

2 He tells is wife to recondition the cans in the kitcken cupboard as they are not up to Key Retailings.

3 He gives his wife ELMS hours to clean.

He probably is relieved to be done and that he doesn't have to worry about anyone slacking and making a mess of things causing angry customers or possibly lawsuits. So I bet they are much different at home.

Here's a thought: What if, hypothetically, the district manager shows up at his house for a visit...unannounced?

If his wife wants to talk to him or he wants to talk to her, does he have an intercom system throughout his house? Does she have to use a 4-digit code to get a hold of him? Does she have to page him forever to get his attention? What if he's out in the garage smoking a cigarette? On the other hand, does he tell his wife, "Step into my office...", when he wants to talk to her?

And then, if any of his neighbors have a problem with him, say a tree branch is extending too far into THEIR yard, or the manager's dog won't stop barking, can the neighbors "file a grievance" against him?

Does he post a schedule on the wall for who gets to do all the household chores? What if there are not enough hours budgeted in the payroll that week to get those chores done?

I'm just imagining what it might be like...

Manager says to his wife "Did you clock in yet? You can't make dinner until you do that."

He thinks about ways to spend the bonuses he makes from cutting hours.

I know many of them, they hate it as bad as the rest of us, they just can not admit it.

i think my store manager gets home and makes a dry martini.  he then yells at his kids like he is yeling at his employees.  during dinner he tells his wife that dinner is not up to standards and she better do a better job tomorrow or she will be demoted and make $8/hr. he then walks around his kingdom with a notepad and writes down 'opportunities' that can be had.  he then makes a page for a family huddle and points out how things are looking crappy around here and who needs to do what to improve it.  off he goes to the bar for another ****tail and disappears into the study while the family slaves away taking care of all the **** he mentioned.  soon afterwards he hears some yelling and the front door slam is informed that his 16 year old son walked off the job and is heading over to the neighbor's house who father is the manager of WalMart.  His youngest son accidently drops his milk glass on the kitchen floor and cuts himself.  Accident reports are filed.  Later he notices that $20 is missing from his wallet he left on his dresser and heads off to look over some video.  he sees that his 14 year old daughter heisted the loot and calls her into the study and grills her.  she asks if this is an investigation and uses her Weingarten rights.  He gets real pissed and calls in the wife.  After a hour of talking all that happens is that he reaches in his wallet and gives her another $20.  it is now 9pm and he gets a call.  It is the single lady a few doors down.  he is now 'transfered' to a new store.  chaos breaks out/ moral is in the tank - but who cares cause he is now getting divorced from this family and is now screwing around with the single lady with 6 kids.....

more to come.....

He comes home and asks if he can have a sleepover with some friends on the days he has off.

He says "guess what, guess what, guess what? Milk came out of my employee's nose when I told a joke. It was hilarious."

HAHA....You really think they have a day off or are able to disconnect. ****, they would have a perfect store in the DM's eyes one day, and a wreck the next and be called at home to "get their **** together" at a moments notice.

He gets home and goes into his man-cave. Comes back out and tells each family member individually what they are doing wrong and what they need to change to do things his way, which is the wrong way to begin with. Goes back into the man-cave. Has a scheduled meeting during dinner with entire family to discuss what needs to be done around the house (cleaning, repairs, etc) and sets unrealistic expectations that the family won't follow. After dinner he goes back into his man-cave. Comes back out just before it's time for bed and has a member of the family perform a useless cleaning task while the repairs aren't touched. He pretends to supervise for a while and then it's back into the man-cave. While he is in the man-cave he does absolutely nothing but play while the rest of the family works and begins to hate him. That's what the store manager we have to put up with does every day.

Probably goes home and porks his real doll who looks like the fat black woman in bakery With a donut in her mouth. Lets face it though managers dont do anything at home let alone at work either. Just lazy

Current boss is nice. Probably spending time planning a new career.

Former bosses might drug and molest guys with their friends.

Drive around looking for animals to run over/stuff to steal.

Indulge in a seriously self-destructive diet.

Beat hell out of the family.

Think I'm kidding?

How about dying?

That would be nice.

Maybe get everyone a day off somehow.

Rising that high in Kroger management  generally requires some level of sociopathy or worse.  There's an incredibly small number of store managers who aren't socio/psychopathic, but I think they are reserved as disaster management and are transferred out as soon as possible.

One previous store manager was an outright sadist.  He got off on abusing employees... to the point where he took a very suspicious early retirement.  For some reason I think he was divorced and single, but I would be shocked if he wasn't abusing prostitutes off the clock.  Bad.  But probably not much worse than that since he was too lazy and dumb to hide the bodies.

Another was a stress eater.  Morbidly obese.  Heart attack.  I didn't go to his funeral.  Not sure how much of his family went either.

Another got Peter Principled to a scary ghetto store.  He gets drunk and bangs former employees who are impressed with his status, unreasonable confidence, and large truck.

Due to scheduling and circumstances in my department, I'm lucky enough not to know my current store manager terribly well.  If he even has a family, he wipes away his tears as he pulls into the driveway, does a couple lines of coke in his truck, walks in the door, chugs half a bottle of liquor, and then beats them.

If he doesn't have a family, he still wipes away his tears as he pulls into the driveway, does a couple lines of coke in his truck, walks in the door, and chugs half a bottle of liquor.  Except then he sits in a lawn chair in his completely empty living room with a laptop, fires up Brazzers because of course he pays for it, and cranks a few out.
