I suppose some of you are still young; a little bit nieve and inexperienced; do not have a family that relies on you. Grabbing essentials before a storm is quite smart. Kids might be stuck inside for the day; who the hell wants to go outside and scrape off the car to go get McDonalds; or worse the power might go off. I for one am one of the lemming who picks up some groceries before snow. And my kids havn't bitched at me yet.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea.... I'm just saying that people should have more forethought in disaster planning than "Weatherman says snow. Let's go to store!"
I can understand picking up a few things like fruits, bread, or anything that might be bad in a few days. I understand that but getting a CART FULL of stuff just because of a little snow shows a lack of forethought, seriously.
Also... Ice cream... for a snow storm.... yeah.

Depends on where you live. I grew up in northeastern Kentucky out in the country and we had an ice storm that knocked the power out for a week. Most of the roads were rural and people rushed to the store the day before the storm hit. I was working for a different grocery chain at the time but I definitely remember it.
Now where I live is mostly city, and people still freak out because they are calling for snow. I was in college at the time and got a call saying "I know they have probably canceled class for the day (they didn't), so you can come on in we've got a snow scare". I never did go in.
