Does everybody on this blog notice that the people that defend Kroger are illiterate. Another shining example of the morons Kroger can hire! What kind of idiot wants a job that pays minimum wage, has no benefits for over a year, and you gotta pay union dues, not to mention the union takes initiation fees; Independents starting pay is at least a dollar more an hour! Maybe its because the independents won't hire illiterates!

1. Don't you yourself work for Kroger? If you don't, then you really have no business here.

2. I don't have to pay union dues. Not one bit.

3. I've never paid any initiation fees, nor do I see myself having to do so in the future.

4. Maybe because those "morons" want to get a job that gives them money, whether it's minimum wage or not. Perhaps some of them just want a side job, or to help for college tuition. For plenty of others, it's because it's the only option they have.

Right now, you're essentially bashing the same people that you're pleading with to take "action" against Kroger. Not exactly a brilliant move.

Am I defending Kroger? Nope. Key retailing is **** and management can sometimes be very, very, resentful. But what I do have an issue with someone who won't get off his high horse. Before you start criticizing other people's "illiteracy", maybe go over your previous posts and fix some stuff there.

Btw, forum =/= blog. Get it right.

I don't think anyone is winning grievances over the eschedule. According to HR as long as Full time employees get their full time hours it doesn't matter when they get them, so therefore senority is important how? I know this first hand. Just had my grievance hearing and that was what HR said. Senority only counts for vacation time and even then if the schedule writer likes someone over you then they have the right to give them their request and overlook yours. The union is no help. They looked at the HR personnel like they had 2 heads and as if this was news to them. So my money to pay union dues is technically a waste.

Quick question: Can employees opt not to pay union dues if they're not in a right-to-work state?

I just don't see how one could be forced to join a group if all they want is a job. It's like forcing me to join Sams Club just to shop at Walmart.
