So I work as an overnight stocker and saw 2 employee who box up a couple box and went thru the back receiving door and drop it in their car. (mostly chips and cookies) Is there a way for manager to track this? I just started and don't want to be label as a snitch or anything. Was wondering if manager would find out stuffs missing.
there's also a reward for reporting dishonest employees if it leads to termination. if they're doing this when you see them, just imagine what they've done when you haven't and for how long.
we've been wondering where some product is coming from that is being "returned" without receipts or the more sophisticated ones are using copies of legitimate receipts. we see a lot of them getting expensive battery packs, eye drops, coffee and allergy meds and pay cash the first time so they'll get cash back on return when they bring in stolen product.
that's why it's important for your service desk people to write down transaction numbers if the customer refuses to surrender the receipt and be suspicious if an item like that is being returned as coming from another store or it's been more than a week or two since purchase.

I think they should just take a big Sharpie and cross out the item on the purchase list that's getting returned for a refund. You have to remember service desk people get by with bare minimum work since there's usually a big line of customers with bogus complaints or requests. There's no way they would track down a transaction number in my store. Oh and if a service desk employee tries to give a refund without some form of purchase proof or identification, they can get into a lot of trouble since they're basically gambling with the store's money. And they should since it does not take a whole lot of effort to ask a customer for a receipt.
you better report this asap, your job could be on the line. They will also fire any one who knew about the theft but did not tell. This has happened in other stores. Call the ethics point line and even give your name. This is an independent company and your name will not be given to Kroger unless you want it to be given, such as when the investigation is started and your job is threatened due to not reporting this theft.
Kroger has a toll free number to report these incidents. Use it. I don't think I would tell the manager for fear of him/her telling the suspects who reported them.
