WARNING: THIS POST IS SARCASTIC.

1. You claim that your safety is in danger while pushing these carts? Well Kroger is looking out for you. Notice those blue, plastic handles put on the cart? Those are there SPECIFICALLY so the lightning won't hurt you.

2. Your manager is totally right. HOW WOULD THE CUSTOMERS SHOP? You expect a mother of 9 to shop for her tax exemptions using a mere handbasket? How insensitive.

3. Why in the hell would you ever think that your manager doesn't have your best interests in mind? Here at Kroger, managers are trained to be your life coach, personal assistant, and be hell-bent on making your experience at Kroger enjoyable and profitable. The fact that you even thought about disobeying her is a total disdain. Next time you approach her, it should be with a $3.99 apology card from Hallmark, a box of $9.99 Assorted chocolates, and a $99.99 bouqet of flowers from the floral shop.

I am sure it is company policy that you should not be collecting carts while it is lightening outside.

How many times a year do people get struck by lightening in your city?

But, Unless  you are in Florida where lightening comes from the ground randomly, you have a better chance of being hit by a plane.

(jokingly) If you should die, you can prepare now by making peace with your maker.  Also, can I have your car?  (jokingly)

First, I recommend you change your handle (posting name).
On the 0.001% chance Kroger gets bored and the HR people decide to find this place, they could easily track you down to your sotre.
So change your name or remove the last one, something like that.

Second,
The hell, dude?
Are you actually going to try to convince me that the customers at your store give you space when driving through the parking lot?
That they don't drive around you two feet away just to save 30 seconds, nearly coming in contact with you or the carts?
That they watch where they are going when they back out of a space?
That they ALWAYS let you have the right of way when crossing into the store, never speeding up to try to avoid you?
That they don't chat on their cell phones, tie their shoes, look at their grocery list, when driving through the lot or pulling into a space?

Dude. I want your job at your store.
Because all that happens at mine and sooner or later my ass is going to get run over. Probably in a very literal sense. I imagine I'll be knocked down by the blow and then get run over around my legs or midsection. If I survive, I quit and sue. If I die, hopefully my surviving family members go to the media and sue, sue, sue. 
Kroger is never worth that parking lot. Ever.
If this company had any heart (ha) it would create Lot Attendants or provide some sort of compensation for the time you are out there.

Yea, yea, yea, I'm ranting, shut up, it's part of the job, blah blah blah.
But it really gets to me when a co-worker asks me if it's started to rain outside and I have to say "No, that's sweat."
Because the company won't provide me with a second damn shirt to wear to change into once off the 'lot.
And customers who say "You want this?" like I'm some sort of dog. True, 99% of them don't mean it that way, but crap.
And the heat, the humidity, the rain, the gas fumes, the holes in my shoe...*sigh*

So anyone who has never power-worked a parking lot for Kroger who thinks persons such as myself are whining, suck it.

Management sent myself and the other co-worker out there last week while it was still going on (we were seeing bolts on the horizon and clearly hearing thunder) because we had no carts in our main entrance. Zero. None of them. 

This was A-Hole man who sent us back out, btw.
Thank god that jackass is transferring to another division.
