I just had a quick question... I'm a current Kroger employee, promoted to fulltime earlier this year and have been with the company about 8 years. A friend of mine is part time and a recent hire. We're both looking to relocate out of state (Michigan to Texas, if it matters any) sometime next year. It's my understanding that so long as there is an availability, I shouldn't have any problems making the move, full time position in tact. Is this the case? Would I retain my seniority in this scenario?
Moreover, would my friend also be able to put in for a transfer? Or is there a mandated amount of time you have to work for the company before putting in a request?
Seniority is lost because it's contract based and you'd be moving out of your local contract. Finding a full time position in the new location will likely be difficult, however. Most people that have transferred out of contract here have opted to take a part time position and work their way back up, but that's up to you of course.
Your friend can also put in a transfer, there is no time limit. As long as they're out of probationary period, I don't see any issues.
DG is correct, with one caveat. Seniority may or may not be lost. Contracts vary from allowing employees to transfer everything to having them lose all benefits, pay, and seniority.
