no hours for the people we have and stores closing yet hiring and hold job fairs ? I know things are backwards at kroger but this one has even customers asking
Not quite on topic, but I had a lady as me today if our store was closing. I told her no, we just remodeled the store. She said she thought we were closing because everytime she comes in we are out of stock on alot of the items she buys on a regular basis. I've noticed it too. They've also been out of stock on items in our sale ad; they never had them when the ad came out.
I get to work each day and I swear there's another new cashier. I don't know any of the cashiers anymore. A few are still there but most are new. Same with courtesy clerks.
So they hold these job fairs in hopes they can bring folks in and pray that they don't quit right away. They held one at my store not too long ago, but I don't think they got anyone much in.
I was thinking what if they bring a bunch of new people and offer the top ones a buyout? I was scared wondering why they are hiring when they don't schedule anyone anyway.
yeah but to play commercials for it in the store when people just got their hours cut seems crazy to me
The trick there is availability. That's why many people see their hours cut. I don't know why you'd be hiring people with such limited availability and always overlapping the same.
Our problem is people get hired and if they're availability is open in the evening they get scheduled until 11 or later pretty much every night. They get demoralized, switch availabilities, even though it's supposed to be six months until you can do that. Rinse & repeat.
I'm full time & not allowed to be unavailable any day or any time in my 24 hr store. Thing is that rule only seems to apply to me.
