Had to go to the ER
Permalink

Got hurt at work today.  What sucks is I found a note the comanager had written about the accident and it was 100% lies.  I swear.  I reported the injury to the comanager and she pissed me off so much I clocked out and walked out.  Then I went back in after I calmed down and got someone to call the Kroger number so I could find out which hospital or clinic I was supposed to go to.  That's when I saw the note she had written lying to cover her ass.

Briefly what happened was I was told by the comanager to write a statement about what happened.  Well, I kept bleeding all over the paper so I tore that sheet off the pad and started again.  Bled all over that paper so I tore it off and started again.  The paper towel I was using as a bandage kept coming off and I wasn't able to apply pressure while I was writing.  I'd clean up one spot of blood then while I was cleaning that I was dripping blood somewhere else.  I couldn't keep up.  At this time the comanager came back into the office, saw all the blood, handed me a roll of paper towels and told me to clean the mess up.  I was trying to wipe the blood off  the desk, the pad, the pen, the floor with paper towels and hand sanitizer and finally I asked her "can you help me?"  She  snapped "I don't want to touch your blood, you clean it up". I was bleeding everywhere and I couldn't get it cleaned up as fast as I was bleeding  so I said "Ms. Comanager, this isn't right. You could use some gloves, I need help.  She said she had to go back up front or go get a kit or something so I told her my husband is outside waiting for me so I'm going to clock out and leave now".

Seriously, could she not pick up a phone and call to get me the help I needed?  She was more worried about the mess I was making. There's more to this story but I'm just to pissed to think straight right now.  She basically wrote I refused to do anything about my bleeding and refused her help.  Seriously?  Lying bitch.  I have three people who looked at the injury and saw me applying pressure and trying to get help.  So why would I go to her and all of the sudden change my mind?  She's going to get caught, they will know she is lying.

And who in the hell thinks it's a good idea to make an injured employee write a statement before they can receive treatment?

Anyway, I'm home and my damn arm hurts because I also got to have a tetnus shot so I have 2 days of this to deal with.  They tried to tell me get it in my right arm and I said no, left arm is fine.  I'm right handed so I'd rather not have that arm ache.

Tomorrow if she says anything I'm just going to say "I'm not allowed to discuss the accident with you". She can just wonder why.

I guess I'm going to have to train some managers and employees on how to handle a damn blood spill.  Or get corporate to make them learn how.  It's no big deal, use universal precautions, wear gloves, use appropriate cleaner, double bag and done!  A 2 year old can do it, but not Ms. I Don't Want To Touch Your Blood Comanager.

There's more to the story.............to be continued..............I need some pie right now.

That's a co-manager for you. Doesn't have the capability of a newhire.

Sounds like she has it in for you. Stay calm. If you leave Kroger you'll want to leave on your terms, not let her hit your buttons and then wait for you to do something in anger.

What store do you work at? I don't want to shop there that's messed up. Also were there any cameras when you were hurt? You have your evidence

I don't want to say which store.  I'm sure there are cameras around that department but what she lied about was that I refused her help.  She wrote that she tried to help me stop the bleeding and I wouldn't accept her help.  She flat lied.  All she said was clean up the blood and she didn't want to help me clean it up.  She walked out to go up front to help the cashiers and left me in the office to write a report and clean up my blood.  Never tried to call the damn Kroger number for accidents so I could leave and go to the doctor.  She just twisted it all around to lay blame on me because I got mad at her for not helping me and clocking out.  She won't win.  It just doesn't add up.  What she wrote down and what happened - I have witnesses and nobody is going to believe her.  She is just that dumb.

You should have called 911 as soon as you got hurt and left while still clocked in. you would have gotten immediate trama status if you went by ambulance... or told the 911 employee that your husband was outside and that you wanted to go with him and to see if she could notify the hospital. You have a certain amount of time to report an accident. i believe it's 48 hours. go back in and fill out another accident form when you aren't bleeding out.

It's horrible that your CO would even consider putting you through that while you were bleeding and in pain. ****ing disgusting. I would file a grievance on your CO for refusing to even call for help while you were bleeding out right in front of her.

I just threw up and your CO disgusts me more than my vomit.

She was making me wash out over 45 floral buckets, change out the flowers, add preservative and cut the ends off the flowers in 30 minutes.  I told her I can't do it in 30 minutes.  She said yes you can.  I said no I can't, it takes me about 4 hours.  Can you show me how to do it in 30 minutes?  She puts her arms up and acts like she's washing a bucket and putting flowers in it and says "that's how you do it".  Smart ass bitch.  I said something to the store manager about it and he said "well you should be able to, take 45 minutes then."

Wouldn't have nearly cut my finger off if they would just give me more time.  Last time I EVER do what they tell me.  They are going to kill somebody someday. From now on when they try to time me on a task they assign me I'm going to hold up my finger and say "No, remember what happened last time when we did it your way?"

I'll file a grievance with the union Monday.  She always does this.  Makes me rush. Says hurry, quicker, hurry. That's another story for another day why she does that.

A co-manager wanted you to write a statement while you were bleeding? I hope the wound/ injury wasn't too bad? If you did have witnesses i would make sure they are willing to back you up as to what happened. This type of behavior is why i have little faith in most of the management in Kroger stores.

I feel for you.
As a courtesy clerk gathering carts, if it is raining, the concrete foyer on either side of our store turns into a slip-and-slide if you are wearing regular sneaker shoes.
But when you are brought on as a CC you are given the impression that you don't need the non-slip shoes normally worn by locations such as deli, bakery or even dairy.
So now I have galoshes I wear as part of my routine rainy day weather.
Twice I have fallen; at least six times that many I have nearly fallen, all because of the wet floor.
Kroger's safety is not exactly the safest part of this company.

She gave me a white legal pad to write on.  There were three or four pages someone had written on and she just folded them to the back and I bled all over them too LOL!

Here's how it works:  Apply pressure, bleeding stops.  Release pressure to oh, let's say write a damn statement!  Blood starts flowing again.  Apply pressure, blood stops.  Now clean up your bloody mess!  Ok, using right hand clean up blood while left hand is starting to bleed all over the place again!  What kind of idiot doesn't see what's happening and then refuses to help?  She's not going to win this one.

I'm writing a detailed statement tomorrow morning.  I looked at the cleaner I was using today and it said you need to soak the buckets for 30 seconds.  So 48 buckets, soak 30 seconds is 24 minutes. I have to do them one at a time.  How do you walk back and forth to the wall, clean them, fill them with water, add the preservative, then snip the stems and put them back in the bucket in the six minutes you have left?  IMPOSSIBLE.  But she wouldn't listen to me.

Sorry Mrs. White, it seems like frontendslave has hijacked your thread to complain about his life again.
Move along, nothing new to see hear.
I think this forum should be renamed The Frontendslave Forum.
