No, corporate said that giving each employee $20 for the holiday was KILLING their bottom line.

So, no, the higher ups stopped that. Certain divisions were given a one time discount on an order off $35 or more...but that's it. As for me I got nothing.

holiday bonus?  you think this is publix?  lol

you might mean holiday pay which is in at least some contracts and amounts to one day's pay if you work all your scheduled days that week before and after the holiday.

If only their bonuses were not tied to their stocks' market share value. Like our hourly pay.

My local recently ratified a new contract, retroactive to mid October, and top rated part time employees and full timers, dept. heads and back ups got a 1 time signing bonus.  For me, a top rated part timer, It was $300. But after taxes, Kroger wouldn't do it unless they could tax it, the bonus came out to $182.  And a lot of us feel that thats why we didn't even get a $15 gift card like we usually do.  Just a 50% discount on toys for a few days, after most of us had finished shopping for our kids.

Kroger taxes you? Oh my god. Really.

Unless by they you mean the government. I hope you do, really. For the future of this once great nation.

The problem with bonuses is that they are taxed much harder than paycheck, so its not a good deal for employees.  Kroger gets a one time ouch and they move on, while employees are not able to keep up with inflation.  Tell the union no more bonus.
