Remember how there were jokes made here during the Taste of Mexico promotion about what was going to come next? We all thought those were only jokes... but Taste of Italy is real and is coming in early 2015 to Kroger stores, complete with more money-wasting t-shirts and offended customers that either find the promotion horribly stereotypical or "unAmerican". Oh, and let's see how much excessive waste there is this time... during the Taste of Mexico, there were doughnut boxes stuffed full of churros that didn't sell on a regular basis in the break room/tossed down the trash chute.
It's no wonder a majority of us are paid so poorly. This company wastes money left and right and there's little left over for the employees or to staff stores properly.
There's also a taste of Thailand coming after that sometime. The taste of mexico was a bust, I'm really not sure why they're moving forward with Italy.
Our bakery churros sold like crazy during the Taste of Mexico. I don't think Kroger needs to be wasting anymore money on dumb shirts and aprons again... ugh.
I think they should spend their money on giving us a decent long sleeve shirt and jacket to wear in the winter months. Who wants a light weight short sleeve t-shirt to work the register right by the front door when it's 30 degrees outside?
I'm sure they will order several boxes of xxl again so that those of us who wear a small or medium can wear them as a dress. I'll never forget being stopped at the front door by the comanager from hell accusing me of stealing one of those Taste of Mexico shirts. Really? You think I want one? If they order them for you to wear, insist you wear them, give you one to wear, how do you get it home? You have to walk out the front door carrying it, right? Dumb comanager couldn't figure that one out. I had to spell it out for her.
While I think that the Taste of Mexico ended badly, at least the churros were acceptable.
At least Italy would be just a tad bit more closer to the general public. Though, I remember back a few months ago how we'd joke about having other tastes like Taste of Germany in aisle nein. :|

The company thats make MONEY yet waste it on things that dont work!
FYI... I didnt much like the Mexico thing, but it didnt cost the company anything. All participating vendors paid for the T shirts, and through scan data, the company was reimbursedfor all markdowns from the vendors. The only thing that cost us was the labor involved, and that was a big expense

A huge majority of those "markdowns" in our store were Kroger brand products related to Taste of Mexico. It's why you no longer see them even in the "international" aisle.
