So my husband and I was talking about me trying to get full time in my department. A few months ago, we had a full-timer transfer stores and they haven't filled the position yet. As far as I know, only one person bid for it, and because she's considered incompetent, she's disqualified. Our department is small, and no one else is interested in it. Because I've only been around for a few months, I told my husband that the odds of me getting it would be slim. Hell, I said if anything, they would rather go with someone who has zero deli experience but has been around for much longer.
How true is this? Would I get passed up for a full-time position if someone with no deli experience bids for it as well on account of seniority?
Wouldn't it be easier to teach the newbie that's been in the department whatever they don't know than to teach the newbie that knows nothing everything?
As far as I know, when a full time position is posted, it goes to the most senior employee who applies for the position. If you put in a bid for the job and nobody else puts in a bid before the posting expires, the job should be yours. You have nothing to lose by putting in a bid.
Okay that's good to know. I dunno if the bid closed or anything, as it was posted a while back. Husband's been pushing for me to do it. I guess I can try if another one gets posted in the future.
