out here in Cali we have people quitting like crazy we have people just not showing up we got people walking off the job we have old timers just walking away we had a guy who was around for awhile and promoted to meat manager and walked out a month later. oh dang I gotta go do every hour on the hour peace!
A few years ago one of the Ralphs stores there went on strike. Some 600 managers had to run the store. So this high turn out rate doesn't surprise me. Employees there obviously are not being treated right.
It's because of poorly trained managers. They forgot the most exportant part of being a manager. Empathy for their employees. Happy employees increases employee Productivity. Manager are worried about bonuses rather than scheduling enough people to cover the store.

I was there for that actually Ralphs locked their employees out because the union vote passed to strike Vons so Ralphs and albertsons decided to support vons and locked everyone out and all three companies helped each other out.. remember that when they complain about competition then they got busted for hiring people with fake socials during the lock out It's all part of the Kroger core values Honesty, respect, integrity you now. Yup it was pretty sad they had to pretty much drag one guy out of the store when they locked us out he didn't want to leave his job. oh and to top it off they were paying people crazy amounts of money per hour that took our place. from 20 bucks to 50 or more.

Good lord... I see why what happened there was all hush hush over in my division.
Worked with a guy who worked at ralphs and then came to Fred Meyer. The strike back in the 03 had a fairly negative impact for them as many employees and managers quit and moved on. Those who held on had grudges against the company and didn't care about the store. The contract they accepted also started the whole two tier thing and its effects are well known to all of us. Here turnover is high amongst new hires as well. Minimum wage, small wage increases that take forever to happen, and crap about OSAT, fresh and friendly (now renamed Friendly and Fresh!) have folks who have been with the company for a few years jumping ship. Management seems to be trying to be hardcases at the moment and that means more turnover. With almost 8 years in myself Im looking for other work as well. Wouldn't thin twice about quitting for the right job.
You're either in or out at ralphs I know who the op is talking about and the person causing the issues Cheryl k. Should have been fired years ago for violating company policy. It's good being with the IN crowd.
I work at Ralphs too and I have worked with some of the most dysfunctional people ever. Especially in management. All they care is about OSAT OSAT OSAT OSAT OSAT. I literally had a manager tell me that we have to do all that it takes to make the customer happy so that they can give us that 'Highly Satisfied' and I quote her: "If the customer says the item is $1.99 then give to them for that price don't argue"
So basically if a customer comes through my line at checkout trying to purchase a $50 bottle of liquor and tells me "Wait I thought the tag says is $1.99" then I'm supposed to give it to him/her for that price.
So my choices are: Get fired for 'arguing' with a customer or get fired for basically giving away expensive merchandise lol...
Op name gives it all away yes she was the safety coordinator but umm she and a lil issue and did a header off a shopping cart she was standing on while talking pictures. Instead of getting fired shes a store director who does whatever it takes to get rid of people.cracked skull out for months violation of policy. That's ok.
Good. We should all be thinking about our next career move and warning others.
