So, today, I was asked by a manager if I wanted to work at another store because they're looking for help for their grand reopening. It's only a one day thing (Next Wednesday). I work an 8 hour shift and will do my normal job as a CC. Of course, I said that I would do it. I had no idea that getting asked that was even an option. I have no idea what to expect or even do.
If your original title is that of a courtesy clerk, then that's what they may have you do. (Unless you are cross trained). It is highly unlikely that they would ask you to do something you have no training for. But just to be safe, I'd ask what your duties would be
I helped several stores with their grand openings a couple of years ago. If you're a CC, then you will just be doing CC work to help out. It's usually an opportunity for people to get additional hours. It was the same thing with me though, I had no idea what I would actually be doing until I arrived and got with the department manager there.
I've done this before to help with grand openings at the service desk. There were a lot of new clerks, so I was basically just there if they needed my help. The plus is definitely getting paid mileage for your travel to and from. Pretty fun to be at a different store for a day or two, also.
I think you might be talking about my store...my only piece of advice is to park as far away as possible to prevent car damage. It happens frequently because the lot is so small.
