So I got hired but they said I can't wear converse so I brought new vans the ones that are the classic black and white. And my boss said if i cwore my converse (she basiallu doesn't want to see me wearing them) so she say no to the converse because she doesn't want to tell me to leave for the day. But I see other associates wear the vans I got is it oka
there is actually a shoe restriction. it says to wear tennis shoes.
honestly wearing converse or vans would KILL my feet working here. i would definitely find some good tennis shoes and good socks cause most likely you'll be running around or standing a lot and tennis shoes is the best bet anyways
This gives me the opportunity to recommend a couple of products (I normally NEVER endorse anything, I feel like 'hey, where's my cut for giving you advertising?)..........
1. Those of us battering our feet to pieces on concrete floors for hours on end? HOKA tennis shoes. It's a professional runners'/athletes' brand that I wear-----they're not cheap, go about $130---$200./pair. But DAMN are they ever worth it. Like running on clouds.
2. For joint aches/pains (another gift from working retail), I strongly advise trying GLUCOSAMINE. It's an OTC supplement, all natural, contains extract of shell fish and the like, and can be bought in any pharmacy. Not cheap either, runs about $20. a jar/150 tabs. But again.......simply miraculous the results!
My store doesn't care what we wear on our feet, but tennis shoes are the best in my opinion. I'm cheap (and broke) so I go to the Salvation Army and Goodwill stores to get used tennis shoes since I wear mine out working the lot so much.
I will suggest you get arch supports if your arches hurt at the end of the day, and padded insoles are life savers.

that is it. What is slowly happening in the dallas area is this. They are starting to demand shoes for crews or shoes for crews slip ons, if you work in the Deli, bakery and soon the meat department. Reasoning is that if there is a slip and fall, while wearing them, then shoes for crews will pay the claim or liability.
Our local`s opinion is that if they demand those shoes then Kroger will need to pay for them.
Payless has no skid black tennis shoes for around $24.00. The have arch support and are very comfortable and ugly lol! I wore mine about 1 1/2 years before they wore out.

In my 20 years at Kroger, I have never slipped and fallen in the deli/bakery area, and I wear regular tennis shoes. However, there was one woman who did fall when her shoe caught on the floor when she pulling one of those green u-boat carts out of the freezer. She was wearing Shoes for Crews.
We are required to wear slip resistant shoes in the deli/bakery/meat departments here too and they are worthless. i wear the rubber covers right now and we still can slip in the freezer if there's ice on the floor. Totally useless.
