I work in a Cincinnati Kroger and this week our hours were cut by 70 hours. We currently weren't getting enough hours to do the work we were supposed to already - now we have almost two entire people with no hours. My question is everyone in my department is either status 1 or status 3 and in our contract status 1 is guaranteed 40 hours and status 3 34 hours. This is even stated on the e-schedule as an error when you attempt to put someone under the before mentioned hours. My question to you is, if we are guaranteed these hours by contract - how can they cut any of our hours? In the past contract status 3 wasn't guaranteed anything, but with the new contract / insurance that changed - this contract was agreed upon - so what should we do?
You follow the contract and make sure everybody in your department gets the hours they are suppose to get according to contract rules. If that puts you over on hours and management throws a fit, file a grievence.

You need to contact your union rep asap. Does the new contract limit the number of employees or hours?
