Thinking about quitting..need advice

I've worked at Kroger for about 2 years now in the produce department and i'm really getting tired of some of the people I work with.. almost all of the night crew is terrible to work with (I mainly work nights and am getting tired of being asked why it looks bad the next morning). My side always looks good and I have to break down truck every night because everyone else at night sucks at it. The only other person that was good to work with at night recently walked out which is making my life hell.. I'm paired with all of these ****ty workers and the new store manager we recently got is siding with them.. I mean I almost got written up for a night that it looked pretty bad and we had "company" the next morning, but at least my dept manager had my back and told them that i'm NOT the problem.

If we don't hire anyone else that is decent..I might even walk out without a notice. I'd hate to do this, but its getting to that point that I don't give a **** anymore. I get paid the same as the ****ty workers that don't do their job. The thing is that I love the people that work in the morning but they need at least one good person at night..so they stick me on nights so hopefully I can balance out the workload and carry them doing 90% of the work.

New manager is also a dick.

. . . I might even walk out without a notice.

The advice is don't leave like that.  Be a pro; be better than Krogrr management.

Don't be the guy who just walks out. Especially if you're short-handed - I mean, not having enough good people is the problem, no? So you'd be contributing to the problem by doing that. You said your department head had your back. Are you gonna let him down by just leaving? If you gotta leave because it's getting to you that's understandable, but at least give them two weeks notice.

I understand how you feel. I recently quit about a month ago and I am now working at a call center. In my opinion there is no reason for working hard at Krogrr. All it gets you is added responsibilities and you have to pick up the slack for the lazy ****s you work with. I was a CC until i was put on Floors because no one else wanted to do it. So I made the best of it and worked my ass off. I was told i was only going to do it temporary, so I shrugged it off and told myself that it was going to help me get in good with management. So this Meat Clerk position opens up and I ask to transfer, but I was told no. The reasoning for this is because no else wanted to do floors. So I told them that it wasn't even my position, I was the highest CC with open availability and they still didnt give me the position and to add insult to injury they wouldn't even change my position to Utility Clerk, which would've given me full time and a raise. I just told them to shove their Oversized mop up their asses and walked out. I got lots more storys of Krogrr taking advantage of me and other employees, most except for 3 other employees who i attended training with have left.

TL;DR: Don't work hard for Krogrr, do the minimum amount possible or else they'll advantage of you.

at Kroger, 'no one else will do it' means you have no seniority, so you will do it and like it.

BEST RESPONSE, i.m.o. Everyone here is ethically right in not walking out on your fellow employees, and you wanna seek better options......but in the end, we're all on our jobs for our OWN pay checks.

And above poster is right: management WILL screw you for being too good. It's a effed up twist on what used to be a good, solid ethic to strive for.

Give two weeks notice then just chill out.  Take your personal days if you can.  The holidays are coming so I hope you're ok with money if you do leave.  The next few months are not really good for looking for new jobs.

I just gave my 2 weeks notice and all of a sudden the new manager is being nice to me, and they offered to switch me to mornings LOL. Screw that. They had their chance and i'm moving on to better things. I've only been there 2 years and im top seniority besides managers in my dept. That shows how they can't keep help and I wonder why...

I quit Kroger 8 months ago and I've never been happier.  Good luck to you!

If you're top seniority under the produce manager and the backup, there's no reason why you were scheduled nights.

Actually, it won't be too bad since a lot of places hire for seasonal, especially for Black Friday.  The problem is that it's seasonal.

I wouldn't suggest quitting right off without having something else though.  So look for something in the meantime.  Go on interviews, stuff like that.  If you get an offer, then drop your notice in.
