Hi all I need some help please I feel like I am being discriminatied against I'm handicapped, I only use one arm do to having a massive stroke. I've been with kroger for almost 10 years, at the moment I'm a cashier, I know I'm not the fastest person but I try by hardest.  When I come in they put me on uscan and put the uscan person on a register when I ask why they tell me oh it's just easier that way, so I ask is it because I'm slower, oh no that has nothing to do with it. I'm sure it's so I don't mess up the qvision scores.  What do you think.

Do you blame them? They are accommodating you by giving you a job that you can perform adequately at with one arm. Cashiers need 2 arms to be effective.

Sure you could call it discrimination but you should be thankful you still have a job. If you didn't then you'd have a legitimate case

Sorry, but that ISN'T discrimination.

They aren't cutting your hours. They aren't firing you.

They are accommodating your disability. If anything, you should be thankful they DON'T put you on register, and then fire you for being too slow.

What they've said. After all, when you were hired, you agreed that you can do your job provided you're given reasonable accommodation.

Being placed on u-scan is MORE than "reasonable" accommodation for your case. You know what management would've said if I asked to be move to u-scan?

"lol, thanks for the laugh, now get your tender score up!"

It looks to me more like they are trying to make accommodations. When I pulled a muscle in my leg, they had me at jobs where I did not have to move around. They even gave me a chair to sit on at the U-Scan. If they told you to go home or cut hours, that would be discrimination. If you really want to be in a checklane, you could talk to management about it and hopefully, they will see how much you want to do it. By the way, sorry about your stroke. That's a really awful thing to have to deal with, and I hope you can recover.

Have you tried for partial SSI disability and/or pt unemployment? With some combination of things you could still work part time if you want to. It sounds like you're trying to keep your job, and that's cool to want, but you should look into getting some extra help, too.

What a load of bull****. Your original "grievance" was shot down by everyone else here by reason of common sense so you make a feeble attempt to amend your circumstances.

Go die in a ditch. You're the exact reason people with actual disabilities are looked upon with suspicion.

You wanna get more money? Quit Kroger and work as one of those fake disabled people that rich families use to cut long lines at theme parks.

Where did OP say this was about money?  She just asked about working on a register vs working u scan.  Sounds to me like Kroger is screwing with her, fired her and she fought to get her job back and won.

OP - just ignore Whore, she suffers from an extremely low IQ and a heart ruled by the devil.

A low IQ is better than no IQ at all, anon.

OP was never fired until it was pointed out that being moved to U-scan because of speed. It happens to everyone. Quit encouraging people to game the system, you idiot.

Unless a disabled person asks to be accomodated, an employer may not take adverse action against an employee... Go to the EEOC website and educate yourself on your rights and responsibilities, and the employer's rights and respinsibilities.  Removing you from the register because of your disability would be wrong unless you have said anything to management that it is too difficult.

Even still they never once claimed they weren't getting their hours, or weren't getting paid the right rate. So how was it about money? They're just claiming that they're getting put in a position they can't do as easily as someone without their disability. I re-read the post and they never mentioned suing or anything like that either.

I never wrote one word of encouragement or advice on gaming the system.  Please read posts before you offer up your idiotic replies.

She wouldn't qualify for SSI disability.  It's doubtful she would get unemployment either.
