OK for Store to Use Break Room as a Cart Graveyard/Dumping Ground?

Is it OK for a Krogrr store to use the break room as a storage space and dumping ground for, for example, broken down electric carts?

Bulletin boards with posted information are in there, but associates can't get much closer than five feet away due to the permanent presence of sample carts, display racks, and as many as three hammer-dead electric shopping wagons.

The small percentage of people who actually have lockers often have to roll some apparatus out of the way in order to access the door.

I think it's negligence, cheapskatery, and the usual contemptuous disregard for associates; what do you think?

If it's wrong, what rules, policies, and laws might be being violated?

Um, I don't think there is a rule against it but it is unethical for someone to do that. It's also super annoying. Maybe we should move t all into the managers office. xD

I kidd.

Dead electrics don't roll well, and the office is up a stairwell, but nice, poetic idea.

Were it not for the cameras, we could just drag the cheet off the dock and let the scroungers sell it for scrap.

If we can't access company information on the bulletin boards due to the physical obstructions, isn't that a problem?

I guess being unable to look at the job bids is grievable.

Would anyone get in trouble if they up and moved them back out? Geez, everyone deserves to have a space to take their breaks without the presence of carts, display racks, and motor carts in the way

Our "break room" has 6 desks with computers where everyone is always working.  There is one long table in the middle of the room with 4 cheap plastic chairs for employees to eat on.  It's usually covered with nasty spilled food, napkins, trash, papers from wherever.  Then there is another shelf along the side wall with a coffee pot and microwave.  Neither have been cleaned since 1972.  All our notices and posters are clearly visable and easy to access.  They're just outdated and not in effect anymore.  Job postings are usually tacked on a wall and stay for a day before they fall off on the floor or get thrown away.  In fact, I think I've only seen one in 4 years.

If you can't read the notices or posters kindly ask a member of the management team to come in and read it for you.biggrin  (Tell them you think it's not safe to climb through the clutter and you really appreciate them doing it for you!)

That's the problem though, I don't think that a member of management can read.

Our breakroom is a mess too, managers cover up our union posters, and labor rules board with stuff about how great Kroger is and what we should do.
we store our markdowns in breakroom too when ever we have visits from anyone in division, such as division manager, or our division VP. We are told they do not like to see markdowns, yet we are told we must do them.

I'd walk right past their little huddle of upper management and loudly say "I can't believe they took our break room away, why are there all those mark downs in there and we can't have a place to eat?"
