My store is cutting hours even though 6 people quit on the front end last week!

For the last 9 months or so, we've had a whole new management team.  The new Store Manager has a reputation for cutting hours.  Well with the holidays coming up, not only has our store not hired any extra help, they've cut hours even though we're heading into the busiest time of the year.  Hours on the front end were so bad that 6 people quit last Friday when the schedule came out.  One guy that quit has been there several years and only got 15 hours.  I'd understand if our sales were down but were making more this year than last.

In the deli where I work, it's just as bad.  Fired 2 people in the last 4 weeks.  While they deserved it, they only hired one new person and brought back a guy from the front who was kicked out of the deli TWICE for disappearing when it got busy.  And we have 2 people come in the morning and no relief help until we leave in the evening.  Yet were still expected to get EVERYTHING DONE!

SO are there any other stores out there making money yet cutting hours?  Sorry if this post makes little sense, but I just had to vent.

Time to start insisting on your breaks!  I'd chill out and let their complaints go in one ear and out the other.  It's just another example of classic Kroger.  "We want all this and we don't want to pay for it".

My Kroger I shop at has gotten so bad that I've decided if I have to wait more than 7 - 10 minutes to check out I'm going to find the manager and give him my cart of food and tell him to put it back himself and not make the overworked courtesy clerks do it.  I hate Kroger.

That happened last year for me. In the deli, they hired 5 people after me (I was hired in August, they were hired in a month or so after). Out of the 5, only 2 remained for the holidays (one transferred to front end). They cut hours on top of that initially. I managed to get 28 hours for a few weeks during December, but we had to get everything done on a less-than-skeleton crew. I shudder to think how it is now.

EOY coming soon, trash stores won't get anything this year. Time to sell some stock because the media has them hyped WAY too high to sustain...

It's time to jump ship man. All this **** id going to hit the fan sooner or later. I myself jumped off, got a security guard license and am making $10 an hour manning a desk inside and Amazon warehouse.

Oh my... That's amazing. I'd love to see the face on my store manager when their "anything for the customer" policy results in an hour of shopbacks for them.
