I have orientation on Saturday for Courtesy Clerk- Bagger!! I do have some questions though,
Do/Did you like being a bagger?
Are there any challenges you faced while bagging?
Is there just one bagger who does all the carts or are there other baggers that help?
Any other things or tips i should know?
I appreciate all your answers and help thanks so much guys! [:

1. It's alright. It's not the ideal job though. 2. Not really. The hardest thing, really, is keeping up on carts. 3. We used to have a bagger who stayed out and did carts his whole shift, but he got fired. Now, we all take turns going out and doing them. 4. You may be asked to do multiple things at once. If that happens, just do the best you can.
1. It was satisfactory, but between bagging and doing pretty much anything else on the front end, I'd choose anything else (except maybe supervising :P).
2. I'm the clumsy/absent-minded type, so my main challenges were making sure I didn't leave any groceries behind, and didn't break too many items. And of course bathroom deep cleaning is a challenge of its own. Ugh.
3. Depends on the store. In ours there's one person who does carts from 7 to 3:30, then after that people switch around, maybe once every two hours or so. But there's some baggers who are better at carts than others, so they tend to be put outside more than the rest.
4. Be polite. Be honest. Call out only for medical or emergency reasons. Familiarize yourself with e-Schedule and use it to request days off and change availability (our schedule writer gets an aneurysm every time someone says "I know I didn't put it on eSched, but I need ... off"). Volunteer to do go-backs or clean in your spare time. Be "peppy". Learn people's names. Learn how breaks/lunches are given at your store, but don't ask for them unless they're over an hour late. Don't use your cell phone when you're on the clock. If you plan on being with Kroger for more than a few months, seize every opportunity for promotion, as baggers in most places get no or minimal raises.

I mean, it's not the greatest, but it's fairly relaxing and easy. How much you enjoy it will depend completely on you.
Are there any challenges you faced while bagging?
Customers, and crappy days. It's overall a fairly easy job.
Is there just one bagger who does all the carts or are there other baggers that help?
I would imagine it depends on the store, but at our store, we only have one bagger on carts at a time, except for extremely busy days.
Any other things or tips i should know?
People here are super negative - ignore the *******s. Your first few days will be the most fun you have at the job, try to enjoy them. Don't stress to much, and don't be afraid to ask your checker, or a fellow bagger, for advice or help.

Thank you!! Do baggers have to get carts from the outside and put them in the lobby or just get the carts from inside the store and put them in the lobby or does it depend on the store?
