Does Kroger have sick pay for a certain amount of days off? I've called off sick for two days and got a doctors excuse for the rest of the week off, excluding tomorrow because of it being a holiday.
You need to ask whoever does your payroll. It looks very sketchy to take Christmas week off sick.
All our personal/sick days were supposed to be used by Dec 10th or we lose them.
It depends on how difficult your store manager wants to be so I would ask the payroll person first.
If used before Dec 10th here:
If you have ph(personal) days left over, and you are under 40 hours, you should be able to apply as many as you can as long as you don't end up with more than 40 hours for the week. In theory anyways.
You may not get to use any ph days since it is after Dec 10th already.
You can actually use a pH even if you work 60 hours. The store manager just has to be the one to enter it into payroll. Rarity that they would actually do that though.
You should be able to claim short term disability. In my union if you're out for more than 3 days you can file on it and get 70% or so. Consult your uniob representive.

Get Well.
Why does it look sketchy to take Chirstmas week off? Cold & flu season is upon us. Lot's of people get sick this time of year. Plus OP has a doctor's note, excusing them for the whole week. This just doesn't look sketchy to me. I broke my toe two days ago and can barely walk. Things happen all year long, people get sick all year long.

It makes it seem like you got sick just so you would be off for Christmas week.

There's a theory amongst most managers that anyone getting "sick" around a holiday is ducking out of work for the holiday. Not saying that it's right or accurate, but that's the thought. When I was management, it depended more on the situation/person.
20 year meat cutter who sounds like death warmed over on the phone or has gone to the doctor on a holiday week? I'm not even going to question it, they're really in a bad way.
17 year old bagger up front who called in sick over Christmas week? Yeah, most likely faking it.
There have been exceptions to this, on both ends. But it's accurate more often than not.

Ok. Employees who want the week off during Christmas find a shady doctor in town who will write them a note excusing them from a week's work. Got it. Yeah, most doctor's don't care about having their license yanked. And the employee got sick on purpose so they could miss work. Heck, who doesn't want to be sick for a week during Christmas? Yeah, force yourself sick. Got it.
