I've never heard of something like that before, and I've put in plenty of overtime over the years - one day alone almost six hours on top of an eight hour shift, and I was never asked to sign anything like that, so if it were me, I'd want an explanation of what it is and why I'm being asked to sign it. It sounds like they want you to agree to forfeit any overtime pay you earned recently, but who knows if that's an accurate assumption or not. Maybe consult with your store's union steward too, as soon as you're able to. As soon as you sign it, that's likely it - no undoing it, so try to have all the facts before you make your decision whether or not to put your signature on that paper.
I mean, you were called in to work, so it must have been approved overtime, so you should be entitled to the overtime pay, but like I said, get answers first before you agree to sign and don't let anybody pressure you or intimidate you to do something.
Ive heard of this trick before. They use it so they can pay you straight tim It also doesn't count against the OT percentage for the week. Call the union( if you have one) and tell them you were bullied and want to file a grievance. If no union, call the Kroger help line, tell then you are being intimidated by your manager.
Sign NOTHING. You have that right.
They wrote me up once and I refused to sign the paperwork.
They told me that it would basically acknowledge I was spoken to and that it was also that I refused to sign.
I told them "fine with me".
Kroger is notorious for having you sign things that you either do not understand completely or have not been 100 percent informed on what it is or was at the time.

I haven't been in to work yet, so i haven't seen this form. But i was told via text by a coworker today that he was asking for me today and he was pissed. I'm not going to sign it. i'll tell him that too. if he wants to threaten me with "insubordination' which i could see him doing, then i'll take things to the union if i have to. I'm tired of playing games with this company.
They called me, i didn't call them. it wasn't my responsibility to tell them that i was going to be on 6 day pay. As for the ot, i was still only at 40 hours, i only accidentally clocked out late one time. so if it's over the 15 minutes, that's really petty to do this over $2.50. but i think it was over the 6 day pay, because i just recently got status 3 full time so it means that i'm to be paid time and a half for the 6th day worked. i'm not going to let him bully me.

Just politely but firmly tell them "no". You worked extra hours, you get extra pay. They cannot make you sign it, and you cannot get in trouble for not signing it. If they give you any ****, go straight to the Union. Actually, if they call you up to the office or anything, tell them you want the store's Union rep to be there too. (They're supposed to do that anyway, but it's likely they'll try to weasel their way through this.)
Just say in lieu of the overtime waiver, you'll take the overtime. In other words do NOT sign. Say that you'll take the overtime pay you are owed. Be polite. But be warned they can "make it hell" for you. If you work the overtime, then you get overtime pay unless stated in your contract.
Contract says that if you are status 3 (even if you are under 40 hours for the week) then for the 6th day, if you are scheduled, or work on your day off, then you get the overtime pay. it goes on to say that if you VOLUNTEER to work, you will be paid at the standard rate of pay.
thing is, i didn't volunteer. they asked me, i said yes, but volunteering to me would be if i came to them and said "hey, i know we're really busy today so i can come in and work for a bit if you need me to" and that's not the way it happened.
i'm going to bring my contract book with me today just in case.

lol.
They asked you to work and you volunteered "yes". I think the words in the contract give you a chance to volunteer the overtime away. I think the wording is flakey.
We don't have a status 3 in our contract. I do remember as a part timer working 6 days, under 40 hours a week, without ot pay tho.
Speak to your union rep first if you can so they can join the meeting and coach you if needed.

The Louisville contract is much simpler. If you work over 8 hours in one day, you get paid time and a half for the overtime. If you work over 40 hours in one week, you get paid for the overtime. If you do both, you get paid for whichever one is greater, but not both. So if you worked 9 hours for four days and 5 hours the fifth day, you would get 3 hours of overtime even though the total hours for the week is only 41. We don't have status this or status that.

Well, he can't threaten you with insubordination. They can't force you to sign anything, ever.!
Well nothing happened today. The co-manager in question was off today and the store manager was there and apparently she doesn't care. I saw her and my dept. head talking in private and everyone seemed happy so i think she might have put him in his place.

Glad to hear it. It would be different if they would have said "will you agree to work at regular rate of pay and sign this overtime waiver?" They can't force you to sign anything AFTER you've already clocked in and out and worked the shift.
