I got an SRI or whatever and was told I had to take a Break at 2 hours even if I didn't want it and not later than that. And that it was in the handbook that it has to be every 2 hours.
Is this a true statement? Just curious. They said it was in the union contract and what not and I can't find an answer.
You're suppose to be allowed to take your break after you've been on the clock for two hours. That doesn't mean you have to take it at that point unless of course you're on the front end where breaks and lunches are scheduled. Any other department you take your breaks and lunches whenever you like as long as they don't interfere with the work that has to be done or someone else's break or lunch. For example, if you've been on the clock for two hours and want to take a break and someone else has been on the clock for three hours and wants to take a break and you both can't take your breaks at the same time, the person who's been on the clock longer should be allowed to take their break first. Most people who work in other departments take their breaks and lunches around their job. If they're in the middle of a task, they finish it first before going on break.
I was forwarded to book that Said you have to take it before the half break (lunch) and have to go to lunch before 5 hours. So before 2 1/2 hour mark according to the indianpolis manual.
