Being scheduled outside of availability
Permalink

I've been scheduled outside of my availability for over a month now. I'm growing increasingly irritated with rescheduling doctors appointments because my boss wants me to work.

I've had to cancel an appointment, reschedule one twice and missed out on a family event because last minute i'm scheduled or my day off request is denied. That mixed with the fact that i can go down the street and get pad $2 more an hour at a competitor has me on my last straw.

The ONLY reason why i keep working this job is because i like the two women i work with and i dont want to make their lives harder. I'm tired of busting my ass for less than adequate pay, and getting jerked around. I thought union jobs were better than this?

If you decide to leave, give your two weeks notice then work only the hours that are within your availability.  If they schedule you on your day off, don't show up!  You do not have to work any hours you are not available, including your day off unless they ask you before they write the schedule.  You can file a grievance with the union, send a copy to  your union rep and the DM.  I had to do that once and my schedule got fixed immediately.  Of course they can always get mad at you and just schedule you less hours, then you have to claim hours and it's alot of hassle.  If you can find another job, leave Kroger!
