Why doesn't anyone know what's in their contract? If everybody would get a contract, read it and make the union enforce it maybe things might change. Kroger doesn't go by that contract and gets away with so much, especially scheduling. Employees need to stand up and file a grievance each and every single time Kroger doesn't uphold the contract. Bury them in grievances! I know most of you could file one tomorrow! Quit paying union dues unless you are going to hold Kroger to the contract! Is it fear or stupidity?
I agree 100% with your post, but yes, I think fear of retaliation has a lot to do with it. Over the past 10+ years I've been with Kroger, I've observed where grievances were filed and the union stepped in to correct the situation. Afterward, the people who got into trouble would make life for the person who filed the grievance so awful and bad, that they eventually (the person who filed the grievance) quit, or they got set up somehow and fired. It's not right that this happens, it's awful but it does happen. It also seems that when situations like this occur, management always wins and we lose quality employees.

No, we need to show those ****ers who's really in charge. I say gather a bunch of uniforms, throw em in a bag full of dog **** and set fire to it outside the back door with a note saying 'from your friends at the UFCW. THAT would get some attention. Also, next time somebody gets in trouble over some bull**** organize EVERY ONE and hold a news conferance right out side the parking lot with a local tv news crew.
I can't get a contract. The union keeps them locked up because because they don't want us to bug them.
They have to furnish you one by law. Get one.
RIIIIIIIIIIGHT. Play it like that. Come in spouting The Law like Better Call Saul and watch em tremble in terror and then RUN to comply with your iron clad legal demands. NO WAY there gonna fire yo ass for 1--3 of a hundred fabricated reasons within the week lol

They can't fire you for asking for the union contract which by law they have to provide to you. Fine. Hire an attorney and let them get one. Kroger runs their store on fear and employees fall for it.
