Seriously, what do I need to do to get out of this? Ive been with Kroger for 15 yrs and grocery lead for 7 yrs. Now the sm tells me my job is on the line if I dont handle grocery, frozen, deli and produce. There is no way in hell I can take on all that. Any ideas?
File a grievance for harassment. All those departments are suppose to have their own department heads or leads. They're not your responsibility. As long as you're doing a satisfactory job as the grocery lead, they can't make you step down. The SM knows darn well that nobody can handle more than one department, let alone four. Perhaps he/she is getting your responsibilities confused with those of an assistant store manager. They're the ones that are suppose to oversee several departments. However, their role is simply to be available when problems arise. They're not suppose to try to micromanage. As long as things run smoothly, they're suppose to leave things alone.
I have dept leads in frozen and dairy but as the grocery mgr I have to oversee grocery, dairy, frozen, and receiving and make sure they are all doing their jobs correctly. Deli and produce should not be something you need to deal with though lol.
