I was told that I would be getting part time 20. I asked about pay raises they were very vague on this subject.
1. Wages: .05 an hour raise after 1066 hours at twenty hours a week, thats a joke if you ask me!
found this out months after I had been working there.
2. Hours: When I started I was told I was a part time 20. I had to change my availability 2 days a week to be able to have a part time job to supplement my income. I was still available more than 40 hours a week . My part time twenty status went down to part time 12. I was told they had to because I changed my availability. This doesn't make any sense to me since I was still available to work more than 40 hours a week.
I'll say what everybody here knows: Kroger jobs suck big dicks and aren't even best suited for students and retirees any more. They're gonna keep fkin around til nobody will work there and they're turn over is every say.
They are going to jack you around for as long as you work there. Try your hardest to find another job and get the hell out of Kroger! As soon as you give notice they will probably take you off the schedule so plan ahead by telling your new job you are available immediately. Good luck to you.
There is no doubt Kroger is THE worst pay in retail. Find somewhere else unless you are a convict or someone that can't pass a background check. Kroger comes to the union every contract and says "look we need to increase pay for the new hires, but the old timers have to give up benefits", they know how this ends everytime. The union tells the old timers, the old timers they tell kroger to fug off and the new hires get nothing. Kroger and the union work great together. As much money as the union gets from your check, I can bet they get more from Kroger.
I work close to 50 hours a week at a bit over 19 an hour. Pays pretty good. Always understaffed and not enough time in the day. At least my store knows what's going on....for the most part.
There is no universal "guarantee" of a raise in every job. You should have demanded a clearer answer when you interviewed, because now it's just your fault. If you want to make a living wage get the hell out of Kroger.
Sure you're guaranteed a raise after a certain time (for me it was a year...I didn't stick around that long), but they're so cheap with the hours that you'll never get your raise.
