What hours do your dept heads work as a late night. Do all your full time people work one late night a week ? 10am to 7pm, 3am to 12 noon just some feedback please.
I am a FEM in the central division. Im curious what all the front end managers out there work. Do they open in the accounting room? Do they work any supervisor shifts? What time do they get off everyday? Every week i am being told that i am to supervise 4 days a week & write schedule the other day. Super shifts are till 8pm at my store. I am not working 4 days a week until 8pm. It started as 1 day. Then went to 2. Somewhere its jumped to 4 now. No longer allowed to open in accounting & no more doing payroll. Yet i am held responsible for the whole front end.
I am a CSM and I am required to work 1 night a week. Some others in our division work up to 4. There is one CSM that doesn't work past 4 on any given day (not 1 night) Don't know how she get away with it. I guess there's always an exception!

From Central division, FEM. I typically work three days until 7p as fes, one day until 11p as fes, and I write schedule for five hours on one day.
We are supposed to spend all our time FESing but when needed I open or close accounting and have never had any complaints from management about doing so. I've been doing more accounting shifts recently due to vacations and short on help. I am expected to close at least once a week but just depending on availability that doesn't always happen either and again I've never had any issues when I don't.
If I'm understanding you right, do we have to work ONLY nights, SOME nights, or occasional nights? Because I've been over grocery, back room and meat, off and on, for coming up on 25 years. In that time I've done it all: come in at 4 a, stayed til the following 8 a, circled back in at noon and stayed til the following 6 a. I've over seen produce, floral and dry grocery all at the same time while covering for vacations and leaves of absence. Not easy, I can tell you. Especially when I had to take a 83%b pay cut one year. But oh well, you sacrifice for this business. Just like when they needed me to lop off my left pinky finger: hurt like a sunuvgun for about a week, but Kroger pharmacy fixed me up ok. Next year they say they want my right testicle; said I'd have to talk with the missus about that first.
My FEM does 12-8. I get 12-8 on FEM's off days and 3-11 the other three. It sucks. FEM doesn't do 3-11, a floor person does.
This district wants FEM/Backups to work "opposite shifts," never do accounting or service desk. But sometimes that's needs of the business. The store where I work is deader than a morgue by 10pm so what is there for me to supervise? who is there to engage and coach? It's painful but it's also NOT what I see at other stores. If we're there every primetime and stuck on a register when are we managing the dept?
our store manager just decided to make dept heads work two nights per week, until we are 'green' on our osat scores. seems unfair, because its not the dept heads who are blowing the secret shopper scores.
Mwahahaha....they *tried* that in our store. Didn't last bc everyone with kids bitched or did split shifts and screwed up the whole plan. Funny tho bc the very same full timers who complained also said they didn't understand why people hated closing. I dunno....maybe taking out YOUR trash and cleaning YOUR dishes atop all of MY duties strikes me as a little unfair?
The only department head I sometimes see closing at my store is the produce department head. Everyone else is typically off by mid afternoon/early evening, like 6:00PM at the latest. Our store manager never, ever works late, late - like the latest he is ever there is maybe 7:00PM and that's it. All the full time, non department head people are typically out of there by 3:00PM, too.
