I've been with Kroger for about 8 years, and this is my first child. I got all my paperwork in ahead of time as suggested by the union rep. I'm in the second week of my maternity leave and I'm curious as to when and how will I get paid. I tried talking to HR, but they've been m.i.a. I've tried talking to other associates who had kids, but none have been helpful because either it was several years ago, or they weren't insured by Kroger.
So I'm asking, is there any moms here who got maternity pay while working for Kroger? How did they pay you (weekly or lump sum) and when did it start?
Depending on which Division you're in as each will handle things slightly different.
In mine, the "Leave of Absence" (or LOA) is between you and the company so that HR cannot terminate you for time loss away from work. The "Pay" aspect is handled by the Union's Health Plan office as part of your health-benefit package to whom you must complete a second set of forms for time loss pay. Contact your Division's HR Department (at HQ, not your store) for clarification and follow up with your Union's Health Benefits office.
