Can you get fired for leaving a shift early? all my work ha been done and the next person is already there to take over. I work in the cheese shop at kroger but I just feel like it's better to go ahead and leave rather than wasting money just standing there. But can I get fired for doing this or do they have to give me a warning first? no one had talked to me about it yet.
I would ask your dept head and manager. If you leave early without notice, there can and will be disciplinary action. They call it job abandonment. If no management is there, including co-management, then I'm not sure what you can really do. Usually management can be found around the store somewhere. At least in my store they can
As mentioned above, ask your department manager. There is always work to be done. Clean and fill displays. Clean work area. Take out trash. Help customers.
If no department manager, ask a store manager or co manager. Always make sure you have permission to leave early. My contract states that we must work atleast a 4 hour shift to avoid attendance issues.
I have had a manager tell me that they encourage part timers to leave early if all the work is done. Your department might be different because it is a service department.

At Kroger, the work is never done. There is always something you can be doing.
