Do You Have An Idiot Co-Worker?

When I was working overnight there was a guy who appeared to be on drugs. He was so slow at stocking they finally put him on cardboard duty. All he did was wheel a basket around and collect cardboard from the isles overnight and make bales. Once he left in the morning with the entire backroom filled with cardboard all over the place. Funny thing is, he quit to join the Navy and you have to be decently bright to pass the ASVAB Navy test. Who is an unintentional idiot at your work?

You only had one!!  You are lucky.

I am surrounded by idiots.

In seriousness.  Sometimes I wonder how some of my co workers are able to breathe or wipe their own butts.

He probably knew he wasn't coming back a head of time and was thinking "I'll make these buttholes work"I know I would feel that way if I was leaving. I'd put the ones who treated me like crap through hell on my last day.

If you don't have an idiot co-worker, you might be the idiot co- worker.

Years ago we had mostly good people and a few idiots; now it's the other way around.
Everyday when I walk through the door I have to navigate the "dipsh!t matrix", employees, management and customers.

Ages ago, I had a coworker at fuel center who seemed unable to greet people (possibly had autism) and left messes in the fuel center (left paper towels everywhere once, left food behind, never conditioned the coolers). He got fired for cursing out the night manager after getting trash water all over the store floor during trash duty. My favorite interaction with him, as he was just sitting in back while I was stocking all the cigarettes was he put a price tag holder on his head and declared "I'm a television!" I said "What's on the TV?" He replied "Nothing, you didn't pay your cable bill."

I'll admit to being the idiot co-worker most days(or during particular weeks when my schedule is all over the place and I haven't had proper rest in weeks, when I'm asked to do something and they haven't explained it to me properly and wonder why it's not done exactly how they want it to be done, or(and this has been my day one reason since I was training at our old store), extended periods of time in the freezer is killing my brain cells, lol).

Now idiots that AREN'T me tend to crop up all the time I think. Most especially when it comes down to baking cookies at times. In particular, for those that make the mini ones. Now I know I may not have the best of memories at times, but I do recall them saying distinctively that for the hot ones, it's 9 X4 so that you get 36 cookies on there and able to just put a WHOLE tray into the container with no problem. That being said in the last few weeks I've been seeing 32, 24, or just whatever numbers showing up on trays for these cookies. I know they said we are reducing our shrink. But last time I checked, I don't think they said anything about reducing the number of cookies on the sheets. So why are we always short?!

Or my personal fave when you have to do the the bread dough slack out for the bakers for the next day. And nobody has bothered to tell you or even the co-manager that does important things like I don't know, all the freaking ordering for your dept., that we are out of X,Y, and Z of a particular dough that you well and truly need for the next day! Like really?! How hard is it to freaking write up a quick list and let someone know when we are out of ****. So we aren't SOL when it comes time to fill the floor and don't have **** to put out there.

Or another personal fave, is when you have to put away truck. And there is obviously more boxes of breads than there are carts to put them on. And nobody really seems to have a back up plan about where they can go. But will for sure have their mouth open if the breads aren't on those carts. As they are divided out just so. But it's like dude are you freaking kidding me with crap like that?

And lastly, when they ask you to do something you haven't done before. And then tell you how they will show you how to do it once you get all the stuff out the freezer. Tell you the temps it requires for the ovens and all that good stuff. Then when you lug out everything you need to bake up or proof or whatever, you look around and find that your co-manager has just up and walked off for hours at a time. And when they come back, they are looking at you, like aren't you done with whatever thing they asked you to do. Totally forgetting, THEY are the ones that was meant to show you how to do whatever the hell it was they told you to do in the first place!

most of my coworkers are idiots. there are some i can tolerate, but none that i legitimately feel friendship towards. avoid coworkers outside of work, don't share your true opinions with them, and never EVER trust them with secrets. your life will be much easier that way.

Oh totally don't share secrets at work. I swear Tuesday I've learned team too much about my co-workers. Just like wow. If only I could take back some of the things i know.
